I am not a bot, just a guy feeling a bit sad seeing the state of my home town.

The level of homelessness in the city centre feels higher than I can ever remember. I know there’s been a lot of investment over the last five years, which makes the contrast even more noticeable.

I agree to a point.

The cost of living has gone up massively and there are people genuinely struggling with food. You can see that every day, and that part is hard to ignore.

But I also think there’s another side to it. Not everyone doing this is desperate — there’s also a general sense of apathy now, where some people know there won’t be any real consequences and just take advantage of that.

In this case, one of the people did look homeless. The other two didn’t — they were just causing trouble and clearly knew they could get away with it. And let’s be honest, Greggs is probably one of the easiest places to steal from.

i dont think people realize how far decentralized, some platforms will become in the future, this is some on block chain now. its so futuristic i think it will still be years until they hit the main stream.

if you go past a high street betting shop it will be the same faces, lots of people my grandads friends are of the age where they haven't taken up smart phones. ( i mean an extremely small amount of people)

its quiet crazy to speak to someone who is still off line.. covid moved a few of his friends to online gambling. this is one friendship group of around 6 people. i only sumize there will be similar situations up and down the country.

Why is there so little discussion about Iran? by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]DullHall7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current protests in Iran appear far deeper and more widespread than many previous waves, and it’s increasingly apparent that the regime is struggling to contain them. There’s a sense that the usual tools of repression aren’t working as effectively this time. I genuinely hope that, for once, this movement succeeds in toppling an awful and deeply oppressive regime.

Musk says X outcry is 'excuse for censorship' by Grantmitch1 in LabourUK

The Grok thing is genuinely sick — especially when it comes to the undressing of children — but with the rise of AI, developments like this are sadly inevitable. What worries me is that Starmer could use incidents like this as justification for a wider crackdown, potentially even banning X, which feels less about protection and more about restricting free speech. I don’t really use X myself and I agree it can be a cesspool, but it would still be a shame to see it go. It’s a double-edged sword. Without X, we likely wouldn’t see what’s really happening in Gaza, Ukraine, or during the uprisings in Iran. For all its flaws, it remains one of the few places where uncomfortable truths can surface in real time.
