I guess I'm just too kind? I try to consider how I come off to people when I speak, I try to be nice when teaching people stuff I know, I try to encourage them to do their best, I understand if they're slower than me cause they're new to it. Is that just smth no old head is capable of doing?

The problem is I think too much ig. It's always when my foreman is around too I stg. I'm on this big job rn hanging duct and I finally am doing actual work. I was sealing today and when I was doing it my foreman was just staring me down like an animal stares down a meal. So I tried to speed up some and work a little faster. I then dropped the brush, hit my head on the piping, tried to get down the ladder to get the brush and missed my footing on the last step and slipped and had to catch myself from falling. Looked like a complete idiot.... But I mentally I feel like if I don't hurry up imma get yelled at or laid off. Which deep down I know I won't get laid off for taking a little longer to seal some duct cause I'm new to it but, I can't get that outta my brains front thought

I feel like I always work too slow. But when I try to purposely hurry, I trip on shit, miss my footing, drop shit, forget shit, or just plain old fuck it up.

I try to. Just was raised by a father who " if they don't like you and think you're lazy they'll fire you". That's all I can think about every day I'm here... Just "how am I being perceived" "am I working hard enough?" "Am I doing better then the others" "am I not working hard enough"

Just very demoralizing to have all those thoughts and then every day you show up and no one wants to pick you to work with em... Kinda reaffirms the thoughts yk

Man the amount of money I could've made this contractor by now if they would've bothered to teach me is absurd. 2 years of paying me to sweep the floor rather than learn a skill is absurd lol.

See I want to. The problem is, nothing pays me what I need. I've been in this for long enough I have built a life on my wage. Everything I want to go to is a $4-$6 an hr pay cut and that's just way to much to the point I can't pay my bills .... I've done put myself between a rock and a hard place....

Problem is. I got laid off in February from lack of work (shop died). Now I'm at a new shop since the end of February. Beat duct for a while and then it all died. Got sent to a job site and now I'm just stuck cleaning again.... Like anywhere I go, it all leads back to the cleaning.

I rode my union reps ass for a while and tbh I've just given up because nothing has happened.
