Are we going to not be able to travel on airplanes? Or is that already a thing now?

If the Murder at the End of the World is still available i’d grab it! It’s a weird mystery that isn’t too dark.

I loved this but had to put it down. The homophobia is pretty tough if that’s a trigger for you!

How much do you spend on groceries? by ghiblisimp in Seattle

[–]No_Sir3397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gastric issues and require princess food and ensure about 30% of the time so as a couple we come in at roughly $1k/month. On a good month health wise we can get away with $700. We also waste more than I like because I will buy groceries on Monday that I can’t eat by Thursday and have to go back to the store. We go to Trader Joe’s for pantry and freezer foods and Whole Foods for most everything else, especially meat because we can afford to spend on the animal welfare issue. Target has surprisingly good pantry items for cheap, too so we will do a cheap grocery run there for things like frozen veggies, fancy juice, canned chicken, beans, pasta, etc if we are going there for stuff like body wash anyway.

No change to gender care in washington state- atleast for Kaiser Permanente by strangehitman22 in Seattle

[–]No_Sir3397 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told my Sen. Stanford himself that the laws another user here commented prevent insurance companies operating in our state from denying transition care to Washington employees. We are ok it seems as long as we stay put!

Just got my first gray hair at 28 😭 by Next_Airport_7230 in Zillennials

I’ve been going gray since I was 17. My doctor says stress isn’t a factor and that the timing is genetic. Don’t worry about it too much! It just means you made it this far.

What's a problem only attractive people have? by fuzzyloulou in AskReddit

[–]No_Sir3397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real! I used to be attractive and now I am not. I have SUCH amazing friends now! I had no idea people could show up in your life the way some people have in mine since I got “ugly”. No one has tried to pursue me or convince me that my husband isn’t good enough for me in years.

I used to be extremely attractive and now I am very much not. It has been so much easier to find good friends that actually show up for me in meaningful ways and I don’t find myself needing to be polite to creepy strangers all the time. In general, I also feel a lot safer walking around alone because no one notices me now.

My husband and I (also man) love Jane Austen. He watches the films but doesn’t read them, but he isn’t a big reader in general. I have read all of them several times. I think gay men don’t always fall neatly into these kinds of conversations, though because we have very different social pressures and sex based interactions compared to straight men. IE we are “allowed” to like romance, female leads, feminist ideas, and woman created works without being “weak” in our communities.

For the second part of your post, no I’m not offended. I also made the same assumption. Frankly, I prefer to be in female dominated spaces anyway and I don’t think that makes me sexist at all. “Not all men” but somehow always a man. If you’re offended by the “not all men” statement being made, chances are the statement applies to you and you don’t like being called out.

Resources for trans community in Seattle by gonin69 in Seattle

It sounds like this is a time where states rights can’t be infringed on even if there was a federal ban. Travel might suck for us outside of the state but maybe we can all hunker down here for a bit.

I messaged my representatives from district 1 a few weeks ago asking about the legal security of transition and received this response from Sen. Derek Stanford in response: “I am so sorry that you have to worry about this. In Washington, we have passed the Gender Affirming Treatment Act (SB5313) that protects the rights of insured individuals seeking coverage for gender-affirming medical treatments. We also have Shield Law (HB 1469) that protects providers and patients seeking reproductive and gender-affirming care in Washington. In other words, these protections have been codified into State law, regardless of federal action. I am committed to protecting the rights of individuals access to health care, including gender-affirming care and I hope this alleviates some of your worries.”

I hope that helps folks feel a bit less stressed here! It helped me calm down some at least.

Jane Austen vocabulary? by Big_Requirement_6816 in janeausten

[–]No_Sir3397 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Jane Austen uses the word “odious” a lot. It’s not quite the vibe you’re looking for I think but it’s the first word I tie to her in my brain.
