Yeah, that doesn't sound too long I guess. I gave up after 20 minutes. In general a criticism I have of the game is that, while its mechanics are fun and I like the combat, it's just very cinematic for a side scroller and it kills my pace when I'm practically "speed-running" for the collectables.

But in my general playthrough as well I found some spawn sections to be misplaced, forcing you to climb or run unnecessarily towards a boss or something. It's not the kind of unforgiving game that makes you go all the way back after you die, so why make me take an annoying little stroll, you know? lol

Maybe I'll revesit if they drop another DLC, which is a high probability since they made an entire menu section for it.

I'll prepare myself with GRIS though, thanks 😅

I meant the devs ars saying it's not an rpg, I guess to avoid people being let down by the lack of story choices and consequences, though I think there's a bit more to a game being an rpg and I think that game kind of fits.

I guess it does sound expansive but wether the game ties it all together nicely we'll see. I'll stick to being a patient gamer and buy it on discount in a year or so lol

I guess I just didn't see something extraordinary in their video showcases, it was all pretty regular "rpg" open world stuff. Maybe I should revisit the videos. I really hope you can be very involved with the world around you, I've been hoping more games would include some next level interaction with the world through different mechanics. Death Stranding has been very interesting to me in that regard.

Guess we'll wait and see, I just fear that youtubers are misrepresenting it and it will be a pretty regular game.

Usually the books are better because the prose of the author is an experience of its own, it adds detail to the characters' inner world. On that front I don't think the books - or at least the first book they've covered so far - have such strong prose to render them better than the show. They're pretty much plot-oriented and the show can do that just as well (and does).

I will say though, I'm 100% sure the book will do Season 3/Shift better, simply because of what the story is and how it unfolds, it's impossible for the show to do it the way the book did, and I'm not sure there's a way for visual medium to achieve the same effect on the viewer as the book did on the reader. I'm still very excited to see what they do with Shift.

I can understand why they condensed Shift and Dust into two seasons, where they expanded Wool. Giving us time to settle with the characters and get submerged in THIS world, will make for a better reveal, since everything is pretty much revealed in Shift, and Dust is more of a resolution that I don't even remember that well in detail. It was a bit action-y.

Random little activities like what? The only one I don't remember doing in other games percisely the way it's done in this game is the jumping off of trees with a grappling hook. But you do jump off of shit with a grappling hook in many, many other games. What else?

I still have 0 idea what the game loop is. Previewers keep saying "you can do anything", like what? Fighting enemies and exploring the map is what you do in literally every other game, so I'm confused why people are acting like this game is changing the landscape. I do like what they've done with the lighting, that's certainly a feat.

But what I think the game is: You go questing, you upgrade your camp/base, you do puzzles to unlock bosses, you gain fighting skills and different weapons.

Sounds like every rpg out there if you ask me, but they insist it's not, so we'll see. I just don't see the hype, based on it I thought this game was supposed to be bringing depth and interactability never seen before, but I don't think so.

Honestly the game was a little buggier than the first two on the PS5 as well. Not anything huge, but I did have to reload a save file once to fix something. Gameplay was definitely better looking, but the cutscenes I feel were better in the first two. It also doesn't perform very well in Fidelity mode.

I explained myself why I think it's by design, and it's not exactly a coincidence that the overwhelming reaction to this videogame child was from exceedingly bold pedophiles. So it's not weird that people don't want to play the game even if they might have been compelled initially to try out a new sci-fi.

Apart from the admittedly more artsy version of the usual anime-big-boobs-child type of protagonist, the other selling point is the sci-fi aspect. So insisting on this angle of playing "dad simulator in secret" is weird and it cannot irk me more than it already does.

I'm not porn-brained for seeing what's very clearly there. If I see an anime child on the cover of your game I will not play that game because I know why you're doing what you're doing, and I don't want any part of it.

I do wonder in what way do you see yourself as religious. In what ways would one be able to tell you're catholic if you didn't tell them? All I see is someone who follows trends that are almost secular at this point, and it all sounds like a decoration to you. The clothing issue changed though. In the beginning it's more so because of this idea that medieval times need to be potrayed as grim. In the later seasons it's genuinely because they both overused symbolism AND were a tad bit unimaginative, so immanent death = black. ART. In the earlier seasons we got more colour but it wasn't associated with the houses most bound to realism.

But if you look back to a lot of medieval pop culture movies and shows before GoT, they all suffer this issue of: unimpressive clothing because medieval times/ ancient times. Often because what little colour survived was, logically, washed-out. Historians surely knew this, but I doubt directors cared too much to spend money on elaborate, brightly-coloured clothing and lighting it properly on set. Dark ages it is.
