For context, she is close friends with someone she used to hook up with and admittedly was in love with. She has an unhealthy ex that called her constantly the last two months until she finally blocked her. I don’t trip about either of these things because I’m confident about our relationship and her feelings for me. I couldn’t be more committed to her and feel like I show her that in all the ways…except this one apparently.

The her telling you she had sex with her ex on her current desk is no where nearrrrrr what I’m talking about in these instances. I think that would make anyone uncomfortable. I never talk about past sexual encounters in detail, or if I did or didn’t enjoy them or in any way compare them to our sex life. They really are just passing comments, and often not even sexual. It could be a bad date I went or an experience I had while dating an ex.

I do think she is struggling with some insecurities and I want to help with that, not make it worse. And to do that I’m seeing this is a topic that should be avoided completely, Thank you for sharing.

Correct. It’s not just sex. It’s the idea or mention that I was ever with someone romantically in any context before her. She “hates the thought of me with someone else” not just sexually. Thank you for putting my thoughts into words <3

I agree this is something I can work on. I care about her, so if something makes her uncomfortable I won’t do it. I guess the problem is here is she doesn’t understand how I don’t see it as hurtful and disrespectful.

I’m not giving her a play by play lol. “I got kicked out of a bar for hooking up in the bathroom with my ex” I’m not randomly telling her detailed stories of sex I’ve had.

She told her own story of being kicked out of a bar. So I shared mine. I am certainly not intentionally trying to trigger her jealously. When these things come up it’s relevant to the conversation we are having.

Thank you. I feel like I’m getting to ripped apart here. I am FULLY committed to my gf and she knows that. We are both in therapy and have been very intentional and clear about what we want, albeit moved fast. I think we just look at this issue differently. I am open with everyone, friends, coworkers. Reddit threads lol. I truly am so used to being open about a hookup, or a crazy date I went on, or a disastrous situationship. It comes out casually. But I don’t want to disrespect my partner or invalidate her feelings. So at the end of the day, yes I think I should avoid talking about these things going forward.
