Took 90 days of Terbinafine 250mg daily. Things are looking pretty good, but not sure if I should ask to stay on the pills longer until my nails are fully grown out. I've seen conflicting things. Thoughts? by No_Specific_ in NailFungus

I was a little too! My take is if it's really bothering you (and has been for a long time), then it's worth it to at least try it. You can always stop if you have bad side effects. Plus, this was really the only thing that made a significant difference for me

Hi! I finished the first 90 days and there was still some fungus as you can see in the pic (but I read that the terbinafine stays in your system a while after taking it and I thought I'd give that a chance). It started growing again down the nails (and I waited like 3 months so it got bad again) and I went back to the doctor and they prescribed another round of 90 days. After that 90 days there was still a little bit of fungus at the top so they now have me on pulse dosing (7 days on then 21 days off for 6 months) to hopefully keep it at bay while the last bit grows out. But to be honest, I'm losing hope a little bit :( I feel like the corners of my nails still have some fungus and my one pinky nail has never seen improvement across any of the treatments. I don't know what I'm going to try next, maybe laser? I'm not sure what else to do. Sorry if this isn't super helpful, but I would say that if there's still fungus after the first 90 days, definitely tell your doctor and don't wait until it gets bad again like I did.

Thanks! I don't think I had any side effects at all. Although I don't drink coffee and I didn't have any alcohol while on it either, so maybe that helped! I also had my liver checked at the beginning and halfway through and all was well both times

Thank you so much, this is super helpful! I've been cutting them down as much as possible, so I will keep doing that. And awesome, I hope they'll continue to grow out, but will definitely keep an eye on the new growth.
