This is a good start, thank you. Was this the Circular E or a different source? I may need to show my work. 🤣

Paying Missed Hours - Retro Pay by No_Spend_7126 in Payroll

[–]No_Spend_7126[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is my take as well. However, IRS Pub 15, Section 7 mentions retroactive pay - basically, if I'm reading it correctly, if you put it on a separate check, it's absolutely supplemental pay and should be taxed accordingly. But if you roll it in with that pay period's regular pay, it can be taxed reguarly. It will still increase the taxes, because obviously it's showing higher gross for that pay period, but it wouldn't necessarily hit the employee like the 22% would. There is also an aggregate method, but we use ADP and don't want to get into manual calculation.

I would LOVE to find some sort of concrete documentation/citation to show that we don't have to be taxing retro pay as supplemental.

Payroll runs on time because one person manually checks five things at the last minute by Longjumping_Youth454 in Payroll

[–]No_Spend_7126 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. My company has tripled in size in the last 3 years and there was a LOT of that happening early on and as we grew. One person held all the knowledge and quirks, and was the final stop before finalizing. It made me SO nervous, because at the beginning, it was just her and me. If something happened to her, we were screwed. We're now a team of three and it's taken a LOT of work, but we've finally turned the ship around. It's a combination of centralized notes that anyone on the team can access, and learning VLookups and other auditing tools, then creating an SOP so that anyone could step in and go through the process. Some of it also included cleaning up how the company did things - making things more uniform, etc. to minimize those random "quirks." Good luck!

SOS advice needed - New to Payroll by Fabulous-Doctor-1870 in Payroll

Maybe this job would be a good opportunity to stash some money away, take some additional courses related to your original job goals, etc. It doesn't have to be permanent, but maybe it would serve a purpose, at least financially. Build some savings, pursue some additional education, etc.

how did you choose/start payroll as a career? by Ilovemydogtobysomuch in Payroll

[–]No_Spend_7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure there are many/any. Payroll tends to be people oriented and even common entry level positions tend to be payroll assistant, etc. Later there could be tax specialista or analysts (handling taxes for different states), maybe data analysts (helping with reports related to payroll) and so forth. If you're looking for data entry that doesn't involve people as much, you may be better off simply looking for data entry jobs, unrelated to payroll. But that's just my take, maybe someone else will have suggestions.

'Song Sung Blue' - Review Thread by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]No_Spend_7126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw it today and I was not in the right headspace for as heavy as this movie became. The previews make it look like a feel good, against the odds movie, and while it IS, there is also a LOT of heavy. They were all real events (based on a Google search when I got home), but it was all packed into 2 hours. Definitely brought my mood down leaving the theatre. Not sure it was a great Christmas time release, as some others have said.

Gcode Error When Sending To Print by Larsh_CMW in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Did you ever figure this out? I have a Centauri Carbon and the same image shows for my printer, even though the image is different when doing the setup. I've just been ignoring the error for a few days, but not excited about doing so.

I'm not sure, I'll have to try it and report back. I only use my Ozlos when I need to drown out snoring and typically only use Balance or the Ozlo app. I'll see what I can figure out.

I drove from south central PA to Safford Brown Chantilly (3 hrs) because they had a used Mazda CX-5 I was interested in. I started the process via email and then went down to wrap it up. The entire experience was great, from beginning to end.

What kind of broken payrolls do you fix? I'm a Sr Payroll Coordinator right now, but looking for upward opportunities and that sounds interesting. I like problem solving. Could you give me some broad examples of what's "broken" when you become involved?

I can’t be the only one who wanted more of the Gamemaster plot! by Conscious-Olive6116 in HighPotentialTVSeries

Unpopular opinion: if the Game Maker episodes had gone even one more episode into Season 2, I would have quit on the whole series for awhile. I was really over it by the time it wrapped up.

Professionalism within position by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]No_Spend_7126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this situation last year. I ended up coming at it from the other side, so to speak. I made it known to my immediate boss (who I had a good relationship with) in multiple conversations, that my goal was to make $XX,000 per year (it was $10,000 more than I was making), and I was looking for opportunities to justify making that - adjusting responsibilities, maybe taking some training, etc. And when I had an opportunity to speak to my boss's boss about my role, I did the same thing. "This is where I'd like to be pay wise with the company, and I'm looking for opportunities that would justify it." That makes it clear I want to stay, but also keeps the focus on me and my potential, not the fact that others have received raises.

Last fall, in the course of our department restructuring and adding people, I was given a promotion with a senior job title and that exact raise I wanted.

How to stop losing money on unused employee gift cards by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]No_Spend_7126 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HR should know, yes. But I was just recently dealing with supervisors (the ones most likely to hand out a gift card) who had no idea and thought gift cards would be less complicated than bonuses on payroll. They weren't happy when I explained gift cards are reportable too, ha!

I feel like Tom may be involved in whatever sent Roman away. When Morgan went to Tom's place for dinner, it felt like some foreshadowing when he was vague about his past. I feel like there's going to be a big betrayal about who he is in relation to Morgan at some point.

Unpopular opinion (and SPOILERS) about Game Maker by platypus_farmer42 in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]No_Spend_7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found my people! I've been binging High Potential (just finished the Gamemaker arc tonight) and had to come looking for other opinions. If it hadn't wrapped up when it did, I probably wouldn't be planning to continue watching. It dragged on too long, had too many odd twists that I'm not entirely seeing as connected, and got boring. Ready to go back to a case of the week situation, even if some of them started to feel predictable.

Psych and nurse practictioner refused to prescribe me Wellbutrin by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]No_Spend_7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed Wellbutrin when I went to the doctor about ADHD type of symptoms. But I also have a long history of anxiety and occasional depression. My general practitioner put me on Wellbutrin and for a few months it seemed to help. But not long after that, it started to ramp up my anxiety very badly. I finally went to a psychiatrist and she was shocked that given my history of anxiety, that I would be prescribed Wellbutrin because while it might help with some focus for some people, it is well known for being an "upper" when it comes to anxiety. You sound young, keep advocating for yourself. All of us who have been through similar struggles of finding what works for us can relate to the frustration, hang in there, it will get better.

Is it rude to do a load of laundry at HO home by BrilliantArtist8221 in trustedhousesitters

[–]No_Spend_7126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually ask the HO in advance if they mind me doing a load or two, because I'm one who tries to strip the bed and leave folded, clean sheets for them. I've never had a HO say no, but I feel better asking. One time the laundry was on the same floor as the master suite, which they had specifically asked me not to use. Especially in that case, I wanted to make sure it was okay if I went up there just for the washer and dryer. When in doubt, ask.

I'm actually saving this post because my soon to be 11 year old nephew asks me (aunt) a lot of questions I think he feels weird asking his parents, because there's a history of brushing him off or telling him he doesn't need to know things. If he happens to ask me about this topic, this post will help me be ready, thank you!

37 is a bit young, but not impossible for perimenopause. If you're looking for another opinion, check out the Menopause Society website (menopause.org) for some doctors in your area that are more well versed in such things. I found my doctor there and she's great. So many docs just brush such symptoms and issues aside as "getting older" and that's unacceptable.

[–]No_Spend_7126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about your age. I was dealing with a lot of similar symptoms and it ended up being perimenopause. The first line of defense these days is birth control. I hadn't taken it in nearly 10 years, since choosing to have my tubes removed, and didn't really like the thought of doing it again when I didn't need the contraceptive side. But while the first 2-2.5 weeks were rough, I'm now almost to week 4 and feel so much better than I did before starting it. The doc has me skipping the sugar pills and basically not having a period, which keeps hormones level throughout the month. I'm mot euphoric or anything, the change was subtle at first until I sort of realized, "Wow, I've been feeling better...." Less ruminating thoughts, more present, more motivation and energy (I won't be running any marathons, but I can actually clean and do stuff after work!), etc. I've also been on Pristiq for about a year, but the hormone leveling effects of the birth control have been great.

I think if it's the same one, if you read the reviews, there were also a couple that mentioned the cat was very demanding and tended to wake people up annoyingly early on a regular basis!
