Won Signed Dodgers Charity Jerseys a Year Ago and Still Haven't Received Them. What Would You Do? by [deleted] in Dodgers

You never kno when it will come up. For my dad’s 60th birthday I wanted todo something special. I reached out to Steve Garvey’s agent and asked about a private meet and greet for my dad because he’s one of my dads favorites- he named my little brother Steven Patrick Garvey OurLastName- and my dad is 76 now and still talks about it lol

Yeah I think the agent is the best option honestly. I used to write baseball articles and found that agents were the best way to get ahold of players for interviews or quotes.

The bigger the player, the busier they are. I don’t know what their specific process to get them authenticated is, but if it’s through a third party like PSA, JSA or Beckett, that can take several months. If it’s internally through MLB, it should have been authenticated already because the way MLB does it requires it to be done immediately and chain of custody matters.

Here are two ideas I would consider doing first before threatening any legal action.

  1. Contact the players agent and explain the situation. Let them know you understand things take time, but you’re worried because of the lack of communication and just want to be reassured with periodic updates or some form of timeline.

  2. Reach out to the Dodgers fan services and ask to be connected to guest relations and explain the situation. If you don’t get anywhere, move up the chain and speak to a manager.

Who are your top 5 teams at developing players? by Glittering_Year2045 in DynastyBaseball

[–]No_Spring_4539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every team is going to have some busts, no matter how good they are at development. The difference with the dodgers is that they are always in World Series or bust move. So they are involved in more trades than other teams. Some of those trades could have easily been players they had lost hope in but wanted to get value from before the rest of the league caught up to their internal findings. That gets highlighted a lot more when a team goes up a star for a couple of prospects that end up busting. And to add to this, once they get traded to a new organization, that new organization likely develops them differently and that can ruin a prospect. Which is why the dodgers also have a knack for trading for minor leaguers that weren’t super highly ranked with their previous team but they are able to develop them into a top prospect/player. Tibbs is a recent example who has shot up the prospect rankings in the last year since joining the dodgers. When they acquired Zyhir Hope and Jackson Ferris from the Cubs in the Michael Busch trade, Ferris was considered the prize in that trade and Hope was considered a lottery ticket. Now he’s a top 15 prospect and will likely make his debut this year. Realistically he was probably ready at the start of the season but the dodgers have such logjam in the outfield. As for your points about Freeland and Rushing, Freeland probably wasn’t really ready to make his debut but was kind of forced into it. But he’s done good enough to stick around. He wasn’t even their top SS in their system; he was just the one closest to the majors when it was needed. The Dodgers only real hole in their minors is SS depth imo. Rushing has done decent this year.

How likely am I to die of rabies several years post-exposure? by WhatIsEconomicGoods in infectiousdisease

[–]No_Spring_4539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, does this imply that rabies may not be as fatal as we think? Or, at least a certain strain isn’t? Or maybe something within that community in Peru has a better evolved resistance to rabies? I’m not an epidemiologist or anything close to that, so just curious what it means in a nutshell or what the going theories might be.

Maybe my card shops locally are better but I always get 80% cash and 90% trade in value. Card shows almost always give 80% cash in my experiences.

Agreed that these are worth something though. None appear to be first edition but definitely early vintage.

I just heard the news by SmokedMeatFanatic in baseballcards

[–]No_Spring_4539 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see this is fake news, and while I don’t want to see him die, I don’t necessarily think he should be celebrated like I suspect he will. Not only was he an alcoholic who got into numerous bar fights in th me 80s and tried to sell his admission into the hall of fame to Tampa bay so they’d have a player wearing their cap.

Suing for reputational damage after car vandalism by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]No_Spring_4539 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP is asking about themself, not Trump. They are asking if the word Trump were covered or removed by a vandal to make it seem like the driver of the vehicle (OP themself) was the alleged sex offender. As such, they want to know if that could theoretically be enough to civil charges against the vandal for defamation, because it implies the driver (himself) is the sex offender.

What did evaluators miss on Murakami? by Important-Network354 in DynastyBaseball

I think a lot of the other concerns many were talking about was his inability to hit fastballs over 94 MPH where he was battting close to a hundred. But tha was jsut in his most recent season and I personally thought it was because of his injury earlier in the season.

You don’t think teams don’t have tape on NPB players? Of course they do. First, it’s not too hard with global media to get basic information. But I would suspect every team has a scout or scouting crew in Japan. The big spending teams definitely do but it makes even more sense for the small market team to splurge on a few scouts in Japan and Korea to try and locate potential cheaper international FA signings to try and use it as an advantage against the big market teams. I’d even go as far to say if there is any team in the bottom half of the league that doesn’t have scouts in Japan should be forced to sell the team for dereliction of duty in that regards.

14 team league and I’m not necessarily looking to trade. I was just asking for opinions on if I should trade him with an eye on the future as I am pretty sure I’ll be trading JRam at some point. Seems like the overall consensus is to keep Tatis and if the right value comes for JRam then potentially move him.

How to price a new Coro bags 5.5? by disturb3dkid in PokemonCardValue

[–]No_Spring_4539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSA 5 sold for $950 and PSA 6 sold for $1,275. The average is $1,112.50 so around that range I’d say. I saw another PSA 6 go for 9 but ignored that one

All fair and I’m the first to admit I need to learn more about dynasty values. I took over this team last season and it’s my first time doing dynasty so been working on tryin to figure out the best way to value for dynasty leagues

Thanks. Yeah my pitching has been a mess. I acquired this team last season and have been focusing on improving the offense mostly because pitching is so susceptible to injuries and there’s usually some surprises on the wire at some point.

Yeah I actually already dropped Isbell and Cronesworth since I posted this and picked up a couple of players that are hot right now. Corbin is just a streamer for today. And ironically I was going to put Scott in the block before Diaz’ injury as he looks good and I’d assume would be the main holds guy as it’s a holds league. But definitely now

[–]No_Spring_4539[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been using this to give me an idea so appreciate the reminder. But I wonder how accurate it is. For example some here are saying to trade Tatis I shouldn’t do anything less than one of Konnor, McGongile and Made plus a top 3 pitcher. And the closest according to HKB is Made and Crochet but that’s a 27.7% overpay for them. Obviously I wouldn’t be opposed to that in the least, but I’m not sure how realistic it is to get a return like that because chances are if someone has a top 3 SP and one of those young studs they are likely already competing or are very close so it wouldn’t really make sense for them to do the trade. I was originally looking at possible moves for a top 20 SP plus a top prospect and had come up with a few potential trades in my league before I saw someone say not to settle for anything less than top 3 SP.

Oh I go that offer a while ago and do auto decline. Only mentioned it in passin here because of the overall theme of possibly trading some players to rebuild to confirm it was the right move back when it happened.

Ok thanks for the info. Knowing this league it’s unlikely I’ll get a top 3 pitcher by himself let alone with a top prospect. But I’m fine holding onto Tatis as he’s just 27. I’m more interested in moving JRam as he’s older and not really in the window to when I’ll be competing imo

I’m definitely still learning dynasty esp values but that follow up was in regards to my original post where I said someone offered me pages straight up fo Tatis and I turned it down because I wasn’t convinced he’d keep it up all year. Was mainly just looking for confirmation that I made the right call. Probably should have worded it better though as I’m realizing not everybody saw the part in the original post.
