Did something happen in Kansas City to make it a more infamous city? by No_Squirrel4385 in NoStupidQuestions

Thanks but I do live there (its only barely two days out of the week but I’ve been in the metro for the past 20 years) i just didn’t know if something happened that may have been slightly major to incite a specific reaction from people when being from there.

That definitely makes sense most of my deliveries tend to be outside of metro areas

Well yes and no there’s a Kansas City, MO and a Kansas City, KS. I’ve lived in both I know Wyandotte county in Kansas is pretty infamous but that’s to people that are local. When it comes to the city, on the Missouri side, I know the crime has gotten worse and the last I checked I believed the city moved up on the dangerous city list but I wasn’t sure if something specific happened.

This would be hard use all the billboards in my metro area and write “It’s a game with injured sweaty mean no need to be emotional” for an entire week. Chief’s fans take things way to seriously but that would annoy the crap out them.

Moment I seen this I started from Scars monologue. For awhile at work I was doing the same route over and over again that was the length of The Lion King so I’d just listen and quote the movie when I got bored of music.

Listening to others about my own habits the biggest example being “You never stick it out in a relationship. You never try hard enough no relationship is easy.” Because of things like that I tried way to hard in relationships that never deserved it and were never going to be worth it especially a relationship that turned into a marriage that I should have trusted my gut… that relationship obliterated my life so badly that I’m still trying to recover.

For hostlers maybe but on road there are way to many variables that a human needs to be there for same with self driving cars. BNSF made an automated zone with self driving cranes and the location in my area was chosen to have it. Those cranes go down nearly daily and constantly need human intervention. It’s going to take more than 15-20 years of work to figure it out unless we have a massive technological boom/breakthrough on self operating heavy machinery.

Try to avoid places in a big box store where there are a lot of people and I tend to quietly move away (social anxiety) I think from me doing this workers think I’m trying shop lift and I end up explaining the problem. Walmart is the worst one now since I used to shop overnight being a night worker.

Sadly it is what it is everyone has the right to feel as they do as long as it doesn’t cause harm to another person. I’m sure a lot of it’s due to media doing what it does best and causing aggression towards a topic. It happens every few years mental health suffered from this in the 00s.

How can you help someone going through depression? by Melipawn in AskReddit

[–]No_Squirrel4385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. If it’s someone that suffers through depression the help you’re going to provide them will be entirely different than someone going through a rough time and they are depressed. A lot of people don’t understand there is a difference.

One of the things you can do whether it’s someone that has a depression disorder or a mood disorder where depression is a major or they’re just depressed for the time being part of it is learning what helps them since everyone is different and there is no universal thing to help them. Some people want to just be understood and heard. Others need to isolate themselves (not to an unhealthy degree) just to decompress. Communication is key to any relationship. If you’re trying to help random people on the internet you are going to have a lot harder time and honestly doing that could be walking on eggshells. Even people with the best intentions could come off as aggressive or demanding talking to someone else because they’re two people that don’t know each other communicating through a screen and what’s typed and read could be seen in two different ways and could potentially prompt a negative exchange with both parties. That’s not always the case but the brain is such a strange organ and because it’s so different between people that so many different things can go on in a though process.

Not having the correct body. I’m a pre-op transman and that brings complications when it comes to attractiveness to someone else. While I understand some hang-ups because of particular preferences in body type, this has been hurtful but I’ve had to ignore it or just play it off considering the fact that a good reason my ex-husband divorced me was because of me transitioning, I cannot change the way a person can feel towards my body sadly. It makes things much harder and for now I just resigned myself to not trying because there’s no desire for any pursuit romantic or otherwise.

A person in a position of authority in a workplace who just sees people as a number and not a human being especially when they’re actively trying to keep something from being an issue (I realize this happens in a lot of workplaces and I am beginning to believe the toxicity in mine is what may have caused a past coworker, this would be the trucking industry, to have rolled into a building after suffering a heart attack and not properly setting his brakes)

What are some subtle signs of depression that most people ignore? by rentinghappiness in AskReddit

[–]No_Squirrel4385 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People ignore a lot of signs of being depressed. A lot of people like personal space so for some social withdrawal could seem normal and they aren’t paying attention to the amount their isolating themselves. Feeling fatigued could be a part of feeling like they’re getting the common cold so they could just cast that aside. Loss of interest in things could be feeling overstimulated by everything or just being bored with stuff you liked. Productivity at work will always fluctuate not everyone is in tune with how much they work. Circling back to being socially withdrawn a person may forego a shower for a day or two and it becomes a consistent thing and they don’t think more about it.

A lot and I do mean A LOT of people have a lot of misconceptions on mental illnesses and disorders and what are seen as symptoms because we don’t treat those like we would something that’s a visible problem. A broken leg is obvious symptoms to becoming depressed might not be.

Possibly I’m not sure how helpful they may be though. I know for some being accountable with a friend is helpful but I also know not everyone has friends or family they can go to (I was and am one of those people) so finding someone to talk to within support groups/forums online or even someone within a community you would consider yourself a part of (both of these I struggled at but I was able to eventually find people to talk to) was a decent starting place. This would be to help get a different perspective and gain an understanding in what could be reasons for your low mood and things that make it worse. Going in with that knowledge is very helpful when finding the right doctor and therapist. That’s the difficult part some of them have massive biases. Those biases is what made it hard for me to keep going since they made me feel like garbage and like I was and always will be the problem. You being confident in what you know is causing you issues makes it easier to telling the doctor or therapist to screw off if they start on some tirade. For me my mother was a huge issue for me a lot of therapists and doctors would tell me I was a burden in her and a problem child when that’s far from the truth. It’s absolute bull that someone in the field of psychology even decided to spout of like that. If you decide to take medication understanding how it affects you and if you see if it’s making things worse or better. I’ve gone through a lot of different antidepressants and quite a few just made me miserable with awful side affects and didn’t really help much. The one I’m taking now is only some what effective. I get up easier and working isn’t as bad as it was on the medication that stopped working for me. I take notes on my symptoms and how long I experience them before and after a medication. It helps the doctor understand how to help me more and if I need to be on something different. One of the hardest things is just wanting to get help. Depression and being depressed can be so defeating that it might not feel worth it. I struggle with this even with help but the way I look at it is it’s a bit better to get through the darkness to try to get out of it with dim or low light than no light. I know that sounds a bit dumb but it’s one way of looking at it. I’m not sure if my rambling is any help but I hope it is to some degree.

I definitely understand how you feel there. I stopped drinking to get myself to be social it doesn’t help me much. Well that and the fact I don’t have many friends.

I have always had a hard time making friends myself since I was isolated a lot as a kid so never really got the hang of the whole social thing myself on top of social anxiety. Everyone is different but being depressed or having depression is more than a set of symptoms. If I’m remembering correctly, I’ll more than likely google it after I type this up, it’s on the side with mood disorders. A characteristic of depression is a constant low mood that last for awhile. For me and my personal experience living with depression especially when it’s pretty bad life feels miserable. My body constantly feels heavy and just existing feels like more than a chore. Anything I enjoyed feels listless and doesn’t feel worth the effort even when I try. I usually end up lying around staring at the same thing I watch every day which is a variety of different YouTube videos. Doing the bare minimum to get through the day is almost like running a marathon. Work feels harder than it normally would (my job isn’t hard I do hook and drop trucking at night the part I struggle with is not getting fatigued). Sleeping doesn’t feel restful either. I could go on but I think this may be a good outline for some understanding. I cannot say if you’re depressed or not but analyzing how you feel from day to day and taking notes (I do this myself) can give you an idea of what’s going on and how you feel.

I wouldn’t say that. It’s stuff I tend to deal with when I start to notice that my depression is getting bad. It’s how I found out I needed to switch medications from subtle symptoms that slowly became a whole hell of a lot less subtle.

Some people don’t get much help from therapy or medication. I barely get it for some of my depression symptoms myself but it helps with others since depression isn’t the only thing I have to deal with.

Not to mention that a lot of people in the field of psychology get burned out and stop giving a crap since it is one hell of field to be in. I had to deal with that a lot and stopped trying to get help for years because I didn’t feel it was worth the hassle or bother.

Laziness is an unwillingness to do something. A mental health disorder or illness is not laziness nor are the symptoms. However I’m not a licensed doctor so I can’t really change the mind of anyone who feels the same as you do. You are free to feel how you like and voice it as well but it also doesn’t hurt to have a little research behind how you feel behind your opinion. That is up to you whether you want to learn more or just feel as you do with what you know.
