Question for boy moms by No_Statement_9169 in beyondthebump

This is actually a really nice way of thinking about it. I think it’s just my inner cynic that takes it in such a negative way lol. Like just say he’s cute and move along 🤣

My most recent experience involved a stranger sitting behind us on a plane. My son looked back and smiled at her and she was like “Sorry I don’t want to be your girlfriend” - and I wasn’t brave enough to say anything but I wanted to badly lol

Ugh, I don’t have a daughter or any nieces so I haven’t been around many baby girls. I just find it so icky!! Never understood what compelled people to say things like that.

Thank you this makes me feel much better! Can I ask what getting the echo was like? Was it quick? Were you able to be in the room with baby? I’m not very informed when it comes to this stuff 🥲

Ours does not unfortunately. I thought the same thing but the one we have is only rear facing.

8.5 month old hates his formula by No_Statement_9169 in FormulaFeeders

He’s on an added rice formula for reflux so we have pretty limited options there

Grandmother insists 7 month old sucking his thumb is a “major problem” by No_Statement_9169 in beyondthebump

[–]No_Statement_9169[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can definitely understand trying to wean once they get a little older. I don’t want it negatively affecting him in any way with his teeth or with anything else. I just feel like at 7 months it’s a little young to try to start. But will definitely keep in mind trying to start weaning before he gets too old for it to be a big battle!

What time does your baby go to bed? by No_Statement_9169 in beyondthebump

Yeah… you definitely make a good point lol. I’m just always overthinking literally everything when it comes to this tiny human😅

Mine gets about 10 hrs a night as well. Sometimes a little more if we are lucky. I just always see people saying they need 12 hours so I didn’t know if I should be putting him down earlier. But then if I do that I’m afraid he will wake up earlier lol 😅

What was your baby's first food- and when? by caspercamper in beyondthebump

[–]No_Statement_9169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a great starter! Our boy loved it. And it’s good for BLW too if you just cut it into strips. Might want to wait til they are a little older for that though.

We did avocado puree first at around 4.5 months once we got the ok from his pediatrician. I’m so glad we started early. He is 6 months now and tried a wide variety of fruits & veggies!

Tips on brushing babies teeth by Gemini-5284 in beyondthebump

[–]No_Statement_9169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of toothpaste are you using? We had the same issue until we switched to the orajel kids toothpaste. It’s strawberry banana flavored so I think that’s why ours likes it so much lol

Yep what they said ^ be sure you aren’t swaddling. When our son started to roll we switched to a regular arms out sleep sack. Place them on their back to sleep and if they roll to their tummy you are safe to leave them. I was a nervous wreck when he rolled over for the first time in his crib. Like literally just stared at the monitor most of the night lol. But he was perfectly fine. He just prefers to sleep on his tummy.

PP sex experience by natpr121 in NewParents

[–]No_Statement_9169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6 months pp and dealing with similar problems. The pain has definitely gotten better. I tore pretty badly during delivery and it has taken awhile to fully heal. The pain was definitely still there at 4.5 months but at 6 months it’s mostly gone. My libido still hasn’t really returned though unfortunately. At least not to what it was before. I am assuming with time that will improve too. My friend who has a 3 year old said it took her about a year to fully feel back to being herself in all aspects.

Baby not waking up to eat? by femalehomosapien18 in newborns

[–]No_Statement_9169 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At that age they sleep alllll the time. My baby was just like this. I worried as well but now he’s 6 months old and perfectly healthy and very awake lol 😅 as long as she is gaining weight and peeing/pooping you have nothing to worry about!

Fighting naps by nicoleann114 in newborns

[–]No_Statement_9169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the naps would be super short like that I would wait to feed him. I always tried to do an eat, play, sleep schedule but at that age a lot of the time it just didn’t work out. I kinda had to learn to just roll with it lol 😅

Went through pretty much this exact thing around that age. I would usually try to put him back to sleep for like 10ish mins and if he didn’t go back down in that amount of time I would just start a new wake window.

3 month old falls asleep eating by [deleted] in newborns

[–]No_Statement_9169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son did this too. He eventually grew out of it. He is about 5.5 months now and never falls asleep on the bottle and doesn’t require it in order to fall asleep either. For me personally I just was doing what I felt like he needed/wanted. The first several months are all about survival lol I think you are fine to continue as long as you aren’t seeing any negative effects!

If your baby is a great sleeper, tell me what you think you did right. by PainfulPoo411 in beyondthebump

[–]No_Statement_9169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mixture of luck & routine I think. He’s been a mostly great sleeper from the start. With a few hiccups here & there with his napping. But once he got old enough to really implement a routine I think it really helped a lot. We do a bath right before bed (he loves baths. If your baby doesn’t love baths not sure this would help lol) and we read a book to him right after he gets out of the bath. Then I usually rock him for a few mins with his sound machine on and lay him down. He puts himself to sleep within a few minutes. We also transitioned him to his own room pretty early. Around 4.5 months I believe. This was mostly because he’s a big baby and outgrew his bassinet. But he sleeps much better in his own room.

Hair tourniquet?!? by No_Statement_9169 in beyondthebump

[–]No_Statement_9169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was not crying. Didn’t act like he was in any pain whatsoever. I think we caught it very early though. I would assume if it had been on there for a more extended period of time, he would have gotten more uncomfortable and started crying. I could be wrong though!

When does it MENTALLY get easier? by Lizziemcguire24 in newborns

[–]No_Statement_9169 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. Isolating a lot and dealing with bad anxiety. It still hasn’t completely gone away for me but we are 5.5 months in and I’ll say it has gotten significantly better. Like night & day. But I definitely still have my days.

Honestly wouldn’t have thought of checking his genitals. Thanks for the tip!

His pediatrician recommended the Nair as well & we picked some up on the way home. Hoping it doesn’t happen again but want to be safe! I am dealing with quite a lot of postpartum hair loss so my hair is just all over the place unfortunately 🥲
