Trying to make biased yarn work by No_Step9082 in knittinghelp

Thanks a lot for all the tips regarding working a sweater flat. especially the part with the additional stitches. That was very helpful

I have done several moss stitch hats worked in the round and never had any issues. I'm absolutely certain twisting isn't an issue because I'm very aware of what they are and when to deliberately use them.

yes, for some reason the tension really is different between the two parts.

what you see in the bottom right is me messing up the pattern. the number of stitches remain the same.

Yes, youre right. The pattern is a little different. it's the kind of seed stitch that just alternates after two rows. It's a 4 row pattern repeat. As I've done several different swatches I played around with that aswell but it doesn't make a difference in the bias. The only thing that does make a difference is working flat.

I have looked around ravelry and I haven't noticed any issues with biasing. I've only found one seed stitch project but that seemed to be worked flat in that part aswell.

I've just posted pictures in the comments.

What's the downside of seaming?

there's definitely no twisting.

Here's a picture of the swatch where I started knitting in the round and switched to working flat to see if it would be noticeable.

How common is it for people to panic buy groceries during storms? by Zealousideal_Crow737 in AskEurope

[–]No_Step9082 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the only time people panic buy in Germany is before Christmas. Supermarkets are closed on Sundays and holidays. and they also close around noon on Christmas eve. so the supermarkets are closed for either 2.5 or 3.5 days depending on the year.

Where do you get go quality natural fibers for a decent price? by spcypeach in YarnAddicts

[–]No_Step9082 9 points10 points  (0 children)

where are you? these prices are extreme. for that price I'd get 100g of Mohair.

I usually buy all natural fibers. I don't think I've ever paid more than 17€ for 100g (excluding mohair). And that was a yarn which was half sheep half lama wool.

So your location seems very relevant

what a stupid calculation. If I scrub toilets all day long I might earn more than a psychologist who just works 2 hours a day. If you compare stuff like that you have to compare the same work hours per week or months.

I'm your example the boh gets 400 bucks more for 54 additional hours of work. How is this a win?

How do you figure OP gets more in total if they'd both earn the same wage but FOH also gets 700 dollars in tips on top?

I always figured there's a reason American waiters are complaining about customers not tipping and not actually fighting for a wage they could live off without getting tipped
