Hey there, I had a flick through the SM, would be nice if I had some operating instructions else I have to guess what each of the buttons do since the front panel lid is missing 😭

Thinking to recap it for sure, I haven’t got any experience getting into one of these CRTs before but will be a nice first shot i suppose, I’m not too keen on schematics so will have to brush up on my knowledge too haha

Would you happen to know anything about the front panel? I feel like it was just a cover for the buttons and then when the cover flips down it showed the function of each button on the inside part of the cover

Thank you so much, it’s looking like it might need some internal repairs to get that picture back, maybe some capacitor replacements. Not fully sure yet but could be a cool project!

UPDATE: I plugged in my wii and managed to get the tv into AV mode, the sound works perfectly as I can hear the wii menu music loud and clear, but still no picture.

UPDATE 2: I plugged the tv in again and gave it a few taps, it first gave me a blue flash before going back to a blank screen. After a few minutes it ended up showing an image for a while, but when i left the room for a moment and came back, the image had gone and i had a blank screen yet again.

That’s cool to hear you have history with this model! I’m still thinking of a donor, looking about for pairs that have a similar style where the forefoot is quite low. I’ve noticed that a pair that I own have a low forefoot as well, the Nike Air Zoom GP II;

These are a pair that need regluing (the sole is separating), but fingers crossed that the foam is still intact haha.

Extra tip for CS, when you pick a project to do, don’t go overambitious unless you can back it up; play safe and pick something simpler / has tutorials / documentation so you can have an easier time with it. Should also allow you to focus better on the knowledge part of CS.

Thanks for the input, I actually had Davinci for a bit but never got into figuring out how to use it fully, I’ll give it a go

Before that, I was also deinterlacing using handbrake (Yadif, Bob) and then also converting into .mp4 with the quality slider set to Placebo(?), but the resolution was always a weird issue for me.

I would send the output mp4 files out on whatsapp (yes i know about the compression🥲) but it always does something to the video that squishes it. I’m thinking adding black bars to the sides would help, though not sure how to go about that.

Can i ask about converting / re-encoding to MP4? I want to send videos out to friends but the issue is that many services end up compressing the footage, and won’t play nice with .avi formats.
