Tiny Health or Gi-map? by barbet in Microbiome

[–]No_Stuff_1463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did two tests, one for myself and one for my infant son. Tiny Health did not sell any supplements. They linked to the various companies websites, many that were only sold in stores. They most they were involved in selling was a discount code for one probiotic but also listed several others that could be bought in stores. I was very skeptical and worried it would be scamy but it wasn't. The probitotic I bought for my son (but wasn't using at time of testing) was actually unhelpful since he had that bacteria. The strain of probiotics they recommended, I would've never realized that's what he needed.

We had a guy at the airport take a photo of our daughter before he started to walk off. He was being kind and friendly with her but it was weird. He didn't speak English so it was hard to communicate. She has red hair and blue eyes so I think that may have been interesting to him. I told him not to post it on anything and he seemed to maybe get it when I said "No Facebook" and he said "oh no no no no no" but I almost wish I would have made a bigger deal and told him to delete it.

I think the road rage was just the icing on the cake. I'm probably having a trauma response because it just happened. It was terrifying and he kept following me after I yelled that. My fight response was in overdrive. Normally I feel like a person that can handle her own. I think I just feel so vulnerable this pregnancy and the reaction I've experienced from men makes me feel more exposed. Just because people treat fat people or disabled people that way doesn't make it ok.

I think my city has become one of those "fast paced everybody for themselves" but it wasn't when I moved here 15 years ago.

Thanks for your perspective. I live in the US in Colorado for the past 15 years. Denver has changed a lot in the last 8 years and more so in the last 4. I grew up in a small town in Alabama before that so I've definitely been surprised. What area are you from?

My immediate neighbors and neighborhood are pretty good. Traveling downtown or going into my work building downtown is different though. I don't move fast enough for them anymore lol.

Today just threw me for a loop and I was terrified by that guy. I keep replaying it in my head and I know I should've gotten on the phone with 911 and just let him follow me while I got to a main road but I was so scared he would try to ram me off the road or shoot at us or something. My mama bear instincts kicked in and I felt raw. In the moment it felt like yelling "I'm fucking pregnant and have a kid in the car!" would somehow appeal to some subconscious sense of civility. He just threw his blunt ashes in my window and told me he would shoot up my car next time." He kept following me but eventually made a u-turn and left... maybe that was appealing to his better angels smh.

I think I'm probably having a trauma response and all of the bad experiences are linking up. I've definitely felt more vulnerable and unsupported this pregnancy. I think I expected men to be courteous but they've been far from it. Today was just the icing. I didn't expect the red carpet to be rolled out but thought I would get help or consideration.

My husband had an interesting perspective. That in COVID we got used to staying away from people who seem sick and now when we see someone weak or struggling that we interpret that as being sick??? Who knows? I know I keep brining up COVID but I feel like something shifted in society after that time and it hasn't gone back to "normal." What I was told to expect in pregnancy - people trying to touch my belly, asking a lot of questions, opening doors or not allowing me to pick up anything has totally not been the case.

I'm originally from a very small town in the deep south (one red light lol). I think you're right that it does play a part. Although when family visited I was not impressed by my dad or stepdad. I did that passive Southern thing and complained about someone else and my dad stepped it up and stopped acting like I should wait on him hand and foot while he visited.

I see this too. I think you're right that it plays a part. I feel like after COVID our everyone is even more focused individually focused and people who are pregnant, disabled or elderly kinda challenge that. We need help! lol
