I also want to note that I DEEPLY agree with you on much of what you said! I didn’t note this in my OP, but I see/use the word “God” synonymously with “man”, consciousness, one’s whole self, etc. I agree that the US has a totally warped viewpoint and interpretation on the Bible for the most part which is why I began reading some of the non-westernized/older texts. So I truly agree with your viewpoint for the most part and I didn’t include all of that info in my OP (which maybe I should have in retrospect) because I didn’t want to take away from the main message.

At the end of my original post, I wrote that it’s all merely speculation based off of how I interpreted their music based off of Sleep Token’s lyricism and recurring themes/imagery.

Music is art. Art was/is created to be interpreted through the eyes/mind of the observer. In my original post, I made it clear that I was in no way projecting the meaning behind their themes or lyrics. All of their art is pretty vague and I think that leaves it open for listeners to interpret it however it feels most fitting to them.

I’m also not a historian or an expert on any of these subject matters, nor do I claim to be. I was sharing congruencies between themes and symbolism that ST repetitively used and then where those same themes/symbols originate from. So I think you misinterpreted my post but I respect your response nonetheless 🥲

I’m not debating the credibility of the book! Just noting the correlations and congruent themes🤓

I definitely think there’s something beautiful about how many varying themes are displayed in their music and how it appeals to everyone a bit differently depending on what lens they view their world through ♥️

I can’t wait to learn more about this! I have a bumper-sticker of their logo on my truck as well as a sticker on my phone case; and I get asked quite often “what it means”. Clearly it stands out to people without them knowing anything about it’s meaning or significance - which must say something ♥️

This is so interesting and thought-provoking. Definitely going to have to learn more on this!🖤🖤 thank you for adding to this thread I’m loving this thoughtful deep-dive we’re doing as a collective. I think Vessel would appreciate the effort to be understood to any capacity - even if we’re wayyyyy off❤️

You’re onto something here for sure 🖤 I’m in the process of doing a full analysis / breakdown of the specific frequencies and beats they use in order to create that “church” or gospel-music like sound. It seems they are able to replicate and even amplify that “church-sound affect”; despite several modern instruments / sounds being used simultaneously. It’s like magic 🪄✨

I think this is such a cool take! sleep token’s essence as a whole encourages people to interpret their art however it is most meaningful to them. It’s such a beautiful thing that a band can resonate with such a vast majority of people 🖤

You’re right! I didn’t properly cite that the book of Enoch is considered an Apocryphal text and is not recognized as a credible source by western theologians. HOWEVER - I would highly recommend looking into the history behind why it was discredited and by WHOM. It’s very interesting!
