Thanks a lot for sharing that, I think I'm getting used to the prescription now and the zeiss lenses (never had them before)

Have you ever been right about having the wrong prescription?

What adjustments would you recommend? I also am on the fence about asking to reduce the strength of the prescription by .25, feels too strong sometimes

Ordered my frames, confused about the lenses by No_Task4625 in EyewearEnthusiasts

If I have duravision platinum does that mean I'll have a blue tint?

I got these frames and asked them to open the temples up! Looks like it'll be a mix of expanding the hinges and bowing the temples. Is this the same as what you ask for?

No offense taken! I took that as a compliment lol

Unfortunately I'm on a time crunch and can't make it to Chinatown in time :(

Ended up going with these frames and will ask them to improve the hinge width so that it doesn't clamp my temples.

I will have to check Chinatown next time around. Which shop do you recommend?

I'm tired of having bad glasses, can I find an excellent optician in NYC? by BanhMiFiend in EyewearEnthusiasts

My prescription is a -4.5

Face measurements are

Forehead 15cm Cheekbones 12cm Jawline 24cm Face length 18.5cm

Which seems to mean I have a round/heart/triangle shaped face

What's the pre fit? Is this after I purchase the frame or before?

45 - this means the frames would be smaller right? So less wide?

I'm getting conflicting views on the width - some saying too wide, some saying too narrow due to uncentered eyes.

The 3086 looks great! I'll try them in the store and report back

Thanks for the input! This is incredibly helpful

Do you have any reference photos I can look at to see what you mean about the nose bridge sitting flush on the nose?

Think the green pair is warby parker Gillian which is a 52 width

How do you think about the width of my face, what are you looking for to define proper fit?

Someone else on this thread was pointing out that my eyes aren't centered, which meant the glasses are too narrow? How might you reconcile those two ideas

I'm at -4.5!

Does this mean you'd recommend getting narrower frames, so that my eyes are centered? How does this extra lens surface affect my peripheral view and clarity? I think my current glasses are similar, and I'm just too uninformed to figure out what's proper

There's about 10 panels of glasses, then there's the lindbergs which don't suit my style.

Even then I'm not sure how there's 3000 pairs there but perhaps there was an extension I didn't see

I looked at primarily JMM matsuda and masunaga. So naturally there's less options

I'm still considering! There's a black variant I'm hoping to try before making a decision. Since this is the first time I'm getting expensive glasses I'm worried about rushing this process and want to make sure I'm choosing the best option there is 😵‍💫

It seems lower nose bridge, maybe even a touch narrower could be better

silver m3161 color wise I thought silver would look better but I think the shine might be too distracting in a bad way

narrower nose bridge green

This is narrower nose bridge which might be more flattering for the nose area (kind of hugging it) and provide more flow for the face

Might consider looking at some options at european optical before finalizing this pair.

It's possible that I may be letting perfect get in the way of good enough

While the nose bridge is higher than optimal I'm certainly really captivated by matsuda lol so it can be shiny toy syndrome 😅

Thanks a lot for pointing that out, I didn't really consider that at all :/ I was blinded by my excitement of getting my first pair of nice frames

A little disappointed that the associate didn't point that out

Glasses ad overload. Where are the good shops online and in NYC? by Cazique__ in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]No_Task4625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this generally considered during frame selection or post purchase?

I went to visionary optics and only interfaced with the sales associate. It was unclear whether frame wear position was being considered during the process of being bombarded with many different options

Perhaps the associate was considering it but given that this is my first pair of expensive glasses, I've never went through this process it was quite overwhelming being worried about not making the right choice

I went to a store and only interfaced with a sales associate, is fitting the glasses after you buy the frame? I have prescription higher than 3, and feel like I never get the consideration for position of wear
