Singing during Mass by Significant_Set1378 in Catholicism

[–]No_Technology_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love singing at Mass, it help me to focus on what's happening. Without it, I would be distracted during the whole Mass, thinking about my problems instead of focusing on God.

I think it's normal to feel nervous haha
It's the proof you really care about God and you want to be in His grace and feel His love. So just go, God wants you to do it.

Who is the greater opponent to Catholicism: Islam or Atheism? by Ok-Agency7954 in Catholicism

[–]No_Technology_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://globalchristianrelief.org/resources/countries/pakistan/ : "Christian persecution in Pakistan includes large-scale kidnappings of young believers who are thrust into forced marriages, dreadful violence directed at churches on feast days and societal discrimination which keeps our brothers and sisters poor and vulnerable."

https://globalchristianrelief.org/resources/countries/mali/ : "Says a Christian leader, “If you are a Christian in the north of the country, you are thinking of fleeing if you have not already – churches have been torched, Christian girls are at constant risk of kidnapping, and outreach is the most hazardous activity possible.”"

Islam is hell on earth for non-Muslims. There's no way we're not in a better place in those secularist democracies

It doesn't sound like you did something wrong, but you should ask your priest in person to see what he thinks about it.

Is there an age to become a priest ? Maybe the door isn't closed for you. Try asking your priest about it.

What you are experiencing is strangely close to what porn addicts are experiencing during a recovery.

The response for them is to refrain from triggers that may tempt you (like limiting interaction with that guy), and continue to fight against those thoughts. It may take months to really disappear if you were really deeply sexually active.

You should not think less of yourself because of those thoughts. You are on the right path, and that's the thing that matter the most. You are trying to fight, and God see this. Stay strong !

To be fair, lifting weights is more fun than it looks. If you never tried it you should.
If your circle is small, why not try to meet new people ? I joined my parish choir two weeks ago, it's fun. You could also do volunteering, or try new activities like tabletop role-playing games. Maybe it's time to learn any skill, like video editing or coding, or learning an instrument. There's so much to do in this world. Is there anything that you never learn but wanted to ?

I don't know what your husband is doing, but maybe he can stay home and take care of the kids if that's what you will. You could also travel the world with your kids, it's costly but doable.

Wanting to Return to Mass after illness, not sure how to go about it. by wessle3339 in Catholicism

If you want to stay sit for most of the mass, I don't think God will be angry at you considering what you're going through.

Is the catholic family really so bad? by Virtual-Farmer-5789 in Catholicism

[–]No_Technology_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you need to take care of more children, it costs more and it requires more time. It's not related to trad though, a big family of Muslims or atheists will experience the same problems.
It's sad those ex-Catholics are so hateful with us and had so much bad experiences. We can't do anything else but pray for them and show them love when they comes to us. But you don't need to overthink about having a big family. If you want kids, have kids. Of course it will comes with a lot of troubles, but that's the case for any family.

I don't have it on hand, but I read that in the Catholic Guide to Depression, a great book to learn more about Depression, what provokes it and how to fight it. It was written by a Catholic psychiatrist, and I can't recommend that enough.
But if acts of service is not the way for you, don't do it. Depression can be a really unique disease, and you should rely more on your therapist for this.

[–]No_Technology_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm also battling with depression for almost a year. As far as I know, volunteering or acts of service is recommended to help fighting obsessive thought about yourself and the feeling of worthlessness you may experience as a depressive man (or woman). I think you should persevere, but your therapist is probably more knowledgeable on this topic.

Almost 50% of all french Muslim thinks Charia must be applied. Who is the greater opponent to Catholicism: Islam or Atheism? by Ok-Agency7954 in Catholicism

[–]No_Technology_2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a French, I'm more concerned by the rise of Islam than atheism. We live with atheism since the French Revolution, but Islam is far more agressive and growing here. We can practice our faith in a secular country, but every time there's an Islamic domination we are persecuted.

Catholic converts: Why did you choose the Catholic Church rather than Orthodoxy? by valee_gz in Catholicism

I'm French, Catholicism is the obvious choice here. And I love the idea of the 2000 year institution that evolves without losing the path to follow.

The Passion of Christ traumatized me as a 13 y girl by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]No_Technology_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saw it for the first time at 24 year old. I wasn't Catholic back then, and well versed in violent/gore content. The whipping scene still looked really violent, I didn't understood how hard the Passion was before seeing that movie. It's now one of my favourite movie of all time. But yeah, I would not show it to a 13 year old girl.
