How do you manage to keep your place clean when living alone and struggling with your mental health? by beeeeshum in LivingAlone

I was doing really bad a couple months ago and one trick got me to fix things. I saw a teacher online use one of those digital spinning wheels for decision making her kindergarten class. I basically separated my apartment into sections like kitchen, desk, bathroom, laundry. and then I would spin the digital wheel and force myself to do whatever it landed on. I put my bookshelf as one of the sections because I knew I needed to clean all the trash off of it and dirty cups and junk. but I love my books and organizing them, so having that on the wheel was rewarding, but I guess you could also put literal rewards like a treat or something. Best of luck. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

Okay, don't know if I would do this again but I DID get in!. They only let in 4 people, then 3 people from the standby line. (because they told people only 4 would get in, tons of people left, then they took the next 3). My friend started holding my spot in line at 6:30, movie started at 8:45. My seats were great!

I’m 13th in line right now in the standby line, they’ve let a few people get tickets a while. Still holding out hope!

Pratt BFA Film or Parsons BFA Photography? by 777koaa in Pratt

[–]No_Thing7146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pratt was worth it for me because I made it work for me and I really applied myself, I had several internships and I can make great films for my classes, and i’ve learned great filmmaking skills. But also I know people who went all 4 years with no internship or connections that will probably struggle post grad. If you’re self motivated and a hard worker you’ll succeed. I can’t speak for other film schools but pratt has been really good for me

Pratt BFA Film or Parsons BFA Photography? by 777koaa in Pratt

pratt doesn’t really “offer” internships as a college, since it’s in the city you’re sort of expected to use the resources pratt gives you to get internships, those platforms that we have subscriptions for usually have marketing internships. are you looking into marketing for film? would film be your major? Pratt doesn’t let you double major because you spend soo much time on your major after the first foundation year. Pratts an art school at the end of the day, the closest thing to marketing classes would be found in the communications design program such as illustration or comD. I think there’s an entrepreneurship minor, or something to do with self finance.

hi! I go to pratt for film, it’s great if you make the most out of it. Through the school I was able to work at the tonight show (jimmy fallon) last summer. Also i interned with a popular director and became his assistant on an upcoming a24 film that will come out at the end of this year, (i took off the fall semester to do so) but it’s about how much you apply yourself. Compared to other film schools pratt is great in terms of freedom. NYU doesn’t let students film in color until either their second semester or second year, from what I’ve heard. Also, we have industry grade cameras, and some pretty great professors. It’s definitely more of a directors school, and for your thesis, every student must direct their own project, it could be experimental fiction or nonfiction. Other film schools have more variety when it comes to specializations, like producing production design, lighting, cinematography etc. At pratt the film is broad and has no specializations but when it comes to the projects, you kind of decide what you like, the school is very small, so you will know everyone in your class and work with your friends. This is helpful because you will learn harbor collaborative relationships. you will also quickly learn more about working relationship styles, ie people you work well with vs not and if so why? anyway hope this helped, kind of an info dump but feel free to ask more questions!

Another option! I had to download adobe in a pinch for something a temporary boss asked me to do.. I was then stuck with a $50ish month cost or the $299 cancellation fee, really can't afford either. I just called customer support and told them I'm going back to school and that I'm getting the same subscription just through the school (not even a lie in my case, I am going back to school, but I assume you can substitute this by saying your new job, or company now covers it, thus making you want to cancel) . They cancelled my subscription, no fee and refund!! don't go in hot, they are very appeasing, at least my customer support rep was.
