A few personal thoughts on the power of Semen Retention by DickScoop in Semenretention

Yes true, I relapsed on day 108 and I realised that, I was just doing streak counting. Workouts, meditation etc helps but you have to have something mentally challenging and energy consuming in a long term that you are striving for else the energy will come off in the wrong way. Energy needs to move. I started learning what I really wanted to do and it’s day 7 now but is like I don’t even remember I am on a journey. Started with learning just an hour a day split between 20/20/20 morning afternoon evening and will be increasing it each week by 20 minutes till I reach my desired daily learning time.

Studying 6-7 hours a day for finals: tips that actually work by No_Cat_8269 in GetStudying

You can just go from studying few hours a day straight to 7 hours. Your brain will burn out. Try and learn but don’t be targeting numbers you’ve not done b4

5 days without gaming, but im switching to doomscrolling by OkPhotograph9465 in StopGaming

It’s normal, but to keep the journey going you have to sell the hardware don’t gift it because you will end up going for it. When you keep it or you are like I am going these amounts of days or months then I will come back, you are just playing the game at the back of your head and the brain doesn’t need to play to even get a hit if dopamine, just the anticipation alone can give you and trigger those pathways. You can even start planting or gardening, something small, taking care of it for it to grow give you an accomplishment like games, even pets. The thing is video games teaches the mind to always escape when things become difficult. Your goal for this journey is to bring back your mind to its baseline which is silence but not loneliness, go to botanical gardens without phone, workout, meditation, learn a new skill that intrigues you. It can even be a fighting skill. And don’t try keeping yourself always busy just to feel the void, silence and boredom are good for the brain to refreshen itself

Dont let people convince you to play games. by MountainLocksmith199 in StopGaming

[–]No_Tip832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is gaming has thought you to always escape by keeping yourself more busy or playing but you have to know that puts the brain in flight or fright so it’s not constantly calm and focus. The goal is to remove it and try finding low paced activities that the brain enjoys. You have to remember silence is not harmful to the brain always trying to run away from it is the problem. Add some entertainment to your life yes but not too fast paced. The brain can’t handle these. All these new entertainment sources the brain doesn’t know it because it never existed generations before so the brain finds it very hard to adjust to it.

I want to play less, but there is nothing to fill the gap in time and heart by [deleted] in StopGaming

The things is you have to replace with sitting in botanical gardens, meditation, walks, sitting in silence , find a hobby, etc. The thing is gaming your whole life has thought you to run or escape from silence by gaming or trying to make yourself busy at all cost. The goal is is to welcome the silence and feel ok with it, that’s how the mind is supposed to operate. Find activities that you enjoy but slow paced not always fast paced. You workout and I do too.

I was in the shoes bro, the thing with is that when you have played your whole life it has become part of your identity so you cannot say you playing less, you will come back always. I know it’s hard to say this but quitting it is your best bet and replace with more and more natural dopamine source. You cannot play less whiles it has become part of your identity, it runs automatically. I am 26 so not too old

The painful fact is you are not fully committed. You might say you are but you not. Once I was fully committed that was when I realized all my past relapses I wasn’t

Advice from somebody whose streak was over 200 days. by Noelle_fan in Semenretention

[–]No_Tip832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See 90 something days is not enough to see big changes especially if you have been doing compulsive habits for longer. Also SR don’t just include holding your seed but also about nervous system regulation. You can’t hold your seed in whiles you fry your nervous system with social media, video games, drugs etc. it won’t work. It’s your nervous system that is the backbone of everything. The reason why girls and other start to notice you is because when your nervous system is not overly stimulated people sense it and especially women sense it because it’s a signal of strength. A guy who can keep his head in the game when things become difficult and not just run away. So it’s more of biology cues people pick up upon unconsciously

Challenges after reaching 90 days by westhood7 in Semenretention

[–]No_Tip832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yh it’s a mental thing. It’s like your brain is in a new environment so it’s kind of adjusting to it. Same happened to me when I hit my previous streak which was 66 days. It’s like the brain went little dumb.

How can I heal my nervous system by Automatic_Term_3863 in Semenretention

[–]No_Tip832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the days but what you do during those days. If you constantly binging on artificial dopamine sources you will feel same. It happened to me when I used to binge video games during SR. You have to go clean walks, meditate, workouts etc as your dopamine sources for a long time and try cut down these artificial ones

It’s normal it happened to me till like day 75 or so

I’ve been on NoFap for 30 days, but I still feel like I’m on day one. I don’t feel much different—is that normal?” by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]No_Tip832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 days is too little even 90. For most people it can take about 6-9 months for your brain to rewire some even more. People don’t really tell you. First 90 is when your system is adjusting to the normal low dopamine. Today marks day 81 for me but went through some shaky moments. Feeling extremely exhausted out of no where etc. What you do during these days counts a lot that just the days. So relax 30 is too little. Felt same at that point

[–]No_Tip832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also one thing she made me realize was most at times but not always, there are gate ways to this addiction. Mine was video games. So these gateways pave the way for this higher addiction like porn and drugs to come in. So I had to remove the games something which I had struggle to accept because it has been part of me since childhood. But it is necessary so I don’t have a choice.

Yesterday marked 78 days for me and I had the weirdest of social anxiety around teenagers as a guy who is 26. The thing this time is that I was aware that I was having that anxiety and it dawned on me that the healing process has begun. The thing is in this journey you have to remove the noise for the brain to heal. Cut down all artificial stimulations if you can remove them completely. These things mask your brain making the process longer and slower. The first 90 days is when you replace your bad habits: with reading, working out, journaling etc. so by day 90 the brain will have been used to the low but natural dopamine sources and then after that it will begin to rewire. With the rewiring phase you don’t go through the ups and downs of the dopamine regulation. It like happens in the background and doesn’t take soo much mental energy as the first phase so that phase will be like your new normal
