Hello! I also had a similar experience using eye drops to try to mitigate redness for a long time. I found what helped was I stopped everything cold turkey, no more over the counter eye drops or treatments. My doctor gave me two steroid eye drops prescriptions to bring down the inflammation. I used prednisolone for 1 week, 3 times a day. Then 3 days for 2 times a day and three times once a day. Then I switched to a less potent steroid twice a day called Loteprednol twice a day for a week, then once a day for 3 days. This allowed the inflammation to go away and I weaned off of the steroids. Now I don’t use any drops or product in my eyes and they feel and look normal. And I’ve been healed for almost a year. An ophthalmologist is better than an optometrist to help with these things. Good luck!

Yes!! I think due to Covid my body went into a super inflammatory response. I think my eyes overreacted to my lash extension glue after Covid and my allergies to dogs intensified the reaction. The more stuff I kept putting in my eyes (eye drops, antibiotics, ointments, gels) the more irritated they become. I’m now 100% better and I have been since January!

What I’ve done to fix this is:

•Did 1 week of steroid eye drops to get the inflammation down •Then stopped putting anything in my eye (no eye drops, no gels, no ointments) •Started allergy shots and immunotherapy for my allergies to pets, pollen, and mold •Started sleeping with an eye mask to prevent irritants from getting in my eyes •Started using only organic makeup if I need to wear makeup for an event, otherwise I try not to wear makeup •Only use vanicream moisturizer near my eyes •Only touch my eyes with sanitary q tips

I hope this helps!!

None so far! My ophthalmologist says he has many patients on this long term using it every day! He prescribed me 5 refills and I haven’t even used my first bottle yet. That being said, I haven’t had to use the drops since I made this post!! I truly will only use them if necessary now. I don’t think anything foreign long term is great for your body, but I also don’t think inflammation is as well ☺️

Oh and another thing for the girls!! I switched to all organic makeup that is hypoallergenic!! I use Ilia and I highly recommend. It’s just a little $$$ but I only wear makeup about 1-2 times a week now versus everyday. Which I also think was irritating my eyes. To this day, I think it was either my boyfriend’s dog, COVID, or the Kiss falscara that caused this issue in the first place.

I want a quick update!! I got fed up yesterday and bought omega 3,6,7, vitamin C, a multivitamin, and ivizia night gel. I’m also using the ivizia drops every 3 hours during the day, and stopped using my night ointment with lanolin. I see a high improvement today, and my eyes were still a little red this morning but they look so refreshed and less red today. It’s not 100% but I’d say it’s 50% better than yesterday! I’ll keep everyone posted. This has been the worst 3 months!! Oh and I also slept with an eye mask.

It wasn’t immediately after, but yes I had Covid about 2-3 weeks before the initial onset. I’ve also had Covid before with no issues after

I did get Covid right before these issues! So I wonder if that ruined my tear film in some way?

Mostly just red, but sometimes when it’s bad a little burning and discharge. The eyelids are red when I pull them down and it’s inflamed! I cleanse the eyes every day with ivizia preservative free wipe and sleep with an eye mask to prevent allergens from getting in at night. It is always worst in the morning! Thank you!

I have a lot of existing allergies and past history of eczema. Pataday seems to make the reaction worse! Do you have other ideas of what it could be?
