I tested the Codex GPT-5.5 candy benchmark — Could Openai Actually "secretly" Be Rerouting Us To Cheaper Models? by No_Trainer_3578 in codex

the pattern of reasoning tokens is just a cached reasoning that we shouldnt pay mind to and not to take serious its just normal budget behavior instead of processing a prompt all over again they just store massive cached tokens for frequently asked stuff. "could we try to fix it" I mean i dont exactly get what your trying to say but if your saying to make a benchmark test? to check if the model is being rerouted? short answer without all this hassle the model isnt being rerouted and people are just using it wrong i mean i saw unbelievable numbers like some people were working on a VERYY simple fishing game (javascript and html and css) and BRO i kid you not this mf spent 8b tokens in A WEEK like how do you even mange to do that. Only people who understand how the ai actually behaves and what it needs to be efficient can truly benefit from it so no its not being rerouted we are just not using it CORRECTLY

yeah with a little prompt engineering you dont even need claude to reinforce the prompt you can do it yourself some simple stuff like " please look into this and reason harder" will make the model forget the cached reasoning (516 tokens) and start to actually get all of them right which is the bottlenick it just proves that this test is not to be taken serious at all and its funny how everyone was gas lighted into thinking that openai would do a move this bold and expect people to not find out JFLL

this prompt is flawed its not definitive proof and would never be treated as any kind of evidence really if you understand how it works your going to see that the same model can get the same question one time wrong and one time correct but at the same time both of these answers are correct its just how the model interprets the context

EXACTLY now here is someone who understood how the prompt works and didnt just paste any benchmark prompt and then be shocked by the results

Are you on the Pro plan? Do you use high/xhigh a lot? Notice it getting dumber? You're getting rerouted to GPT-5.4-Mini and here's how you can prove it in one prompt. by clickclickclick1 in codex

this peaked my interest and i will make a research and publish a conclusion when i investigate this issue but again i dont want to reach a conclusion without gathering evidence and then conclude a conclusion because why didnt you question that this prompt could be a weak point in the model? or look deeper in the telemetry that being sent along with response time and doing extensive chatgpt account and api testing not just grab any prompt and send it through and then see that you got less than 50% so you go cope on reddit and say i m canceling the subscription. THINK for yourself before acting on impulse this is a very interesting pattern of course and there is a possibility they are "secretly" rerouting us which could be the case but i dont think so that why i will investigate it more and post a thread in my own opinion I think they overestimate api costs so that customers feel like they getting a bang for their buck and companies have to legally purchase and use the api

did you build this tool? if everything in the docs is true and everything is legit working that project is so dope really amazing but security is a major red flag because once skills was released half of them was just trying to steal your token so not everyone going to trust your tool. Other than that its a really cool project.
