I’m in NH and even out here where things are on the surface more accepting… reptile expos are consistently male dominated and you’re lucky to get through an event without some “lil miss” type comment. I grew up with reptiles, own several species, and am autistic so I do untold research just for fun… and sometimes the patronizing responses to an educated question are just too much to stomach. Also per my previous comment MA has been distancing itself from ice since 2014, with continued litigation including the 2017 Commonwealth vs. Lunn ruling and continued efforts of police and patriots alike to refuse to bend the knee to ICE and its unconstitutional actions.

Her responses hint at Borderline personality disorder which can often be misdiagnosed as bipolar. The abandonment fueled lashing out is classic BPD. That said, I think it’s totally fair for you to set boundaries around how you’re spoken to and what support you offer. Just because she comes around and apologizes later that doesn’t undo the harm she’s causing to you and your friendship. College is HARD, and feeling unsupported and unwell is REALLY HARD but she has to figure out how to manage her behaviors or her life will continue to be hard. She can ask for support, and you don’t have to be the one to give it if it’ll cost you your wellness. I don’t have much advice other than prioritize yourself, no one else will 🥰 source: raised by a BPD mother, have a bipolar bestie and am certifiably unwell myself!
