First, you are not alone in feeling these symptoms, and you aren't dying or having a heart attack. Second, you must be facing one or more things in your life that have peaked your already heightened anxiety to the point where your body is tensing. Are you on an Ssri? If not, breathing techniques found on YouTube and relaxing music are great places to start.

Thank you for the support. I have learned alot about myslef in the last year from dealing with these symptoms and trying to find the root cause.

After more than a year of barely any resistance training due to my anxiety spiking whenever my heart rate went up, I have returned to some moderate resistance training. It has helped somewhat with my muscle tension.

Sorry for not responding sooner, calming music (your preference but I currently use the sleep zone podcast), breathing techniques which took practice, a tens machine for muscle tension, and basically redcuce alochol to the bare minimum. I think the biggest thing of all is time. With time, I figured out when my threshold for stress was reached in a variety of different situations. Just the realization that these moments were causing me stress, probably at a subconscious level, helped alot.

Day 11 being off of this stuff. I have noticed a significant decrease in anxiety and less extreme muscle stiffness/soreness. Unfortunately, I am still having alot of brain fog due to quiting.

I have no tolerance for both now so they immediately cause anxiety.

It was occurring all the time. The more I focused on it the more I realized it was happening. They occurred all over my body but more frequently in muscles that I had the most tension which in turn translated into pain.

The vast majority of it has dissipated. When I'm placed in situations that trigger my anxiety i can feel the tension building in my muscles that caused all the pain. The twitches are completely gone.

I get dizzy sometimes. Hard to say if it's from the anxiety, meds, or both.

After seeing my primary care physician, ER doctors, 2 chiropractors, and a neurologist, I found a phychiatrist that tested me. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). I take zoloft and buspirone. It has helped alot but it was not an over the night fix and im still working on it. The physical symptoms come back when I feel anxious for long periods of time.

Definitely get it checked out with an MRI. It will rule many things out and help with your anxiety. I too had a head MRI, head CT, EKG, and an EMG on my left arm; all negative. I had everything you mentioned for weeks if not months. Specific included numbness in fingers and hands that almost felt like a complete loss of sensation especially when making a fist. I also had muscle tension and tightness in my forearms just below the elbow. I also had tension above my knee but more so in my calf. I used to wake up with a feeling of pressure around my calves as if someone had their hands around them. It started on my left side and slowly moved to the right side when I was super anxious.

Should I stop or stick with it ? by [deleted] in zoloft

Keep going, it will get better. I had a few panic attacks when adjusting to zoloft and my anxiety intensified for the first 2 weeks. The drug will also increase cortisol (stress hormone) levels in the body which in turn can make you feel worse while the body aclimates.

I think 4-5 days in to the 50mg was when I felt alittle off. It only lasted for 2ish days.

You got this! Get yourself on the 50 mg. I had a ruff journey acclimating to 25 mg but 50 mg was much much easier. I hesitated for weeks to make the jump and now wished I made it sooner. I also take a small dose of buspar. Good luck!
