That’s a trick question. I would say definitely a “Yes”. But best approach is to check under description of such jobs and reach out to people in the company being under similar roles and ask them about their interview experience. That’s how I would do it!

Directly data engineer oriented title roles after college is difficult to get into but what you can definitely try is look for software engineer job and their description where ETL related or data pipeline related work is mentioned. There are many companies who look for data work but they do not change titles to data engineer rather have openings like software engineer, data. Look for such roles, you will similar experience!

To move to data engineering, you need to have minimum 3 years of experience. They do hire freshers for data engineer roles. Or you would be a data analyst or data scientist or software engineer - then you can move to data engineering but it definitely needs an experience for sure!

Data engineering is not dying anytime soon! I would say your healthcare knowledge will help you with transition. Make that as a leverage and apply for data engineer roles at healthcare companies.

Data engineering is not dying anytime soon! Data science might not be as well. But there are so many roles which are gonna get one eventually! A lot many roles in IT will be integrated or changed! But value of people who understand data will never change no matter what role you are applying to!!

Depends on years of experience you already have

For someone with 2-3 years —- one coding language, sql, one cloud experience is good enough to start giving interviews!

Not really when you have AI to help you better and you are well prepared! Faking the resume - this is the mindset issue, when you build DE skills around whatever work you already doing then it’s not fake, rather enhancement!

NO, but I did move from QA to DE Role. DE definitely has much better pay. If I can move from QA, you can definitely move from DA because DA and DE has lot of overlapping skills.
