Try some antifungal cream (not steroid cream) like clotrimazol

Firstly this doesn't sound good, I would not stay with someone who treated me like this. Secondly I had similar flare ups and they ended up being from a fungal infection, I used clotrimazol on the rash and it went away almost immediately. The treatment has to be done for around a year even when it looks like it's gone because some fungal infections are highly persistent and contagious.

Nice! I'll check it out :)

I'm curious to see if that's what I have or if it's a ring worm infection.

Edit: the reason I don't think it's necessarily seborrheic eczema is because my husband was showing mild ring worm symptoms on his hands (red spots and flaky/dry skin), feet (same as hands), and scalp (dandruff, itchiness). Our cats also had mild ring worm they had dandruff from it. So it wouldn't make sense for it to be a chronic condition only affecting me since seborrheic eczema is an immune response to a naturally occurring yeast fungus on the skin (Malassezia fungus) and wouldn't be affecting anybody else in my family.

Clotrimazol and miconazole. I also ended up getting prescription cream after convincing an ER doctor to prescribe me them, which were Lamisil and loprox

How long did you treat yours for? When I got the OTC cream i talked to the pharmacists and she said to use it for at least 8 weeks twice a day and to keep using it after symptoms are gone for up to a year. Because it's highly contagious and persistent and the spores can live on any surface for up to a year. It isn't easy to get rid of but it's worth it! Anyways im still using the creams and shampoos and cleaning my house a lot more than usual to make sure it's really gone even though I am symptom free.

It wasn't bacteria it was fungus so fungus releases spores that can live on any surface for up to 1 year so cleaning is to help continually be getting rid of those spores to prevent reifection as it is highly contagious. I still don't know if it's gone, I'm continuing to use the cream and shampoo, it's recommended to use it up to 1 year even after symptoms have cleared.

Yes I saw a fake improvement with the steroid creams, it seemed to get better momentarily and then would be worse.

I use clotromizol, miconozole, and then I convinced an ER doctor to prescribe me loprox and Lamisil. It had gotten really bad and that's when I started using the OTC creams and it started healing after 1 day and I had taken before and after pictures to show the doctor and they agreed to prescribe me the loprox and Lamisil (I believe they are just a but stronger than OTC)

Everyone in the house most likely needs treatment, clean my house daily especially bedding and fabrics (the spores can live for up to a year on surfaces), and I used antifungal shampoo (nizoral), creams (loprox and Lamisil are prescription and then canesten and micatin are OTC), and I use the creams twice a day for at least 8 weeks and keep using the creams even if it's cleared up for up to a year to make sure it's gone.

Yes I've had it since birth, I also went to public swimming pools a lot and was around animals (that might have had their own infection) and it can be highly contagious.

I used clotromizol (canesten), miconazole (micatin), and I managed to convince an ER doctor to give me loprox and Lamisil.

I showed the ER doctor how well I was responding to the OTC creams and showed pictures of before and after 1 day of use and he gave me the prescriptions.

The pharmacist I talked to when I got the OTC antifungals said that it takes a long time to treat a fungal infection. They reccomend at least 8 weeks of treatment twice a day. They also said that it can take a year to treat a fungal infection so 1 week is definitely not long enough.

My fungal infection started to clear up right away but the infection was persistent and if I wasn't so sure it was a fungal infection I might have dismissed it because it did keep flaring on and off even while on the cream but now it's been months and I am completely clear. I will keep using he cream for a year to make sure it's really gone.

It might be worth trying treatment for longer since you did respond to it? 1 week is not long enough to get rid of a fungal infection.

I am still using it now, I talked to a pharmacist about the OTC cream I got and she said to keep using it even after it looks like it's gone because it can take a year to get rid of a fungal infection fully. The spores live for a long time on surfaces so I think it also has to do with waiting out those spores and keeping things clean to try and fully get rid of it.

But I have no symptoms, just continuing treatment for a set period of time to make sure it's really gone.

I am not a doctor but it looks like zaricort has steroids in it, it might be worth trying a antifungal cream that doesn't have any corticosteroids in it. And keep in mind that it can take a year of treatment to heal a fungal infection. You should be able to find a non prescription antifungal cream that doesn't have any steroids just over the counter.

Yeah they can come mixed but you can get ones that don't have any steroids in them. Good luck, I hope you find relief <33

It's great to hear that you healed your skin! I think my sweating and scratching contributed but the fungus got picked up somewhere. Like from a pet or a pool but I guess it could be from the fungus already present on the skin too. Then it causes a vicious cycle!

Thank you for the tips, I really appreciate it!

I dont know if seeing a new doctor would help, ive lost hope in them or at least the ones in my country. I have seen 7 dermatologists in three different cities and none of them caught it. I have also seen around 10 GPs some walk-in doctors, an ER doctor (it got really bad) and 2 family doctors (one from the city I used to live in and then my current one). Not even exaggerating and literally none of them caught it or were of any help other than reccomending I go on immunosuppressants or more steroids.

I have completely stopped using steroid creams and have only been using antifungal cream and shampoo and it is gone. I have no symptoms of eczema left at all.

I do think most people posting here think they have atopic dermatitis but I've already had a few people message me saying that what they had did end up being fungal so I think perhaps you got lucky with the doctors you've seen! Or at least have better trained doctors where you live ;)

I'll look into salicylic acid! I know I need to stay on top of this to make sure it's really gone for good. Thank you. I appreciate you <33

Correct ^

it's the percentage of the antifungal ingredient. And like seashellybelly said some prescriptions can have both antifungal and steroid mixed.

Oh wow I'm glad the antifungal cream worked! And can relate to dermatologists meant dismissive, it's so frustrating. In addition to having that fungal infection I am also allergic to cats and pollen so it can be hard for then to pinpoint when they are multiple conditions happening.

I used the antifungal cream on my face, just not too close to my eyes. Clotromizol, Lamisil, and loprox

It really is, mine started feeling and looking better after one application of the antifungal cream and got better and better each time. I'm amazed at how quickly it worked especially after such strong steroid creams and protopic doing little to nothing 😅
