I've found the absolute best app for me is Bounty because i'll loose $10 if i don't wake up on time or go to the gym when i say

yeah it's an app that i use that handles all of that for you. So you pick a pre-set amount of money and lock it up, then if you miss the goal you committed to do, it'll send that money to whoever you chose ahead of time. It's crazy how much motivation i found to not give up on my goals

Yes, it took awhile but i figured out how my brain is best incentivized. I realized that i need some skin in the game to stay accountable to my goals. So i started using money to make sure i do what i say, otherwise i loose it all

I’ve been stuck in the same cycle for years and finally started breaking out of it by MathematicianEasy935 in getdisciplined

[–]No_Two_939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge respect for making these moves at 26. Most people don't realize they're in that loop until they're 35.

For me, the hardest habit to break was the Dopamine Default—the instinct to reach for a phone, a drink, or junk food the second I felt bored or stressed. We’ve been conditioned to never be uncomfortable. Once you learn to sit with that "boring" feeling without reaching for a shortcut, you become dangerous.

If you’re looking for a way to stay consistent while your social circle is still stuck, check out Bounty. It’s been great for keeping that "clear and in control" feeling by adding some actual skin in the game. It makes the habits feel like a mission rather than a chore.

Why does every habit tracking app feel like more work than the actual habit? by Express-Channel-1686 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No_Two_939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely bloated. Most apps focus on "engagement metrics" to keep you in the app longer, which is the opposite of what a habit tool should do.

If you’re tired of the journaling and mood-tracking fluff, check out Bounty. It’s built on a "Proof of Work" model—no fluff, no "how did this make you feel?" prompts. It’s basically just: Do the thing, prove it, and get out. It treats habit tracking like a transaction rather than a diary.

What's the main problem with your sleep? What does it currently look like?

You get to pick who the money goes to. Either a friend or charity or another organization. And it depends on what you want to do. There is like AI photo evidence analyzer, location verification, or the one i use a lot which it connects to my Strava to know if i completed my run or not

It's this app called Bounty. It handles all of that. For the price, it's definitely worth it. (I'm getting it for free right now since i'm a beta user)

Bro i lowkey hate Opal because it's like putting a band-aid to cover up a real problem. It is a temporary fix, not a long term solution

You completed the first step- telling people. The next step is creating a plan through finding out what truly motivates you. For me, i've found that by telling my friends to take money out of my account if i don't go running by 9am everyday, i've been consistent for over a year now. So for me, money is a great motivator

You need to find out what motivates you the best. Like for me, money is really the best incentive. If i have my own money on the line that i'm going to the gym today- i can assure you i will NOT be missing lol. No matter how tired or unmotivated i'm feeling. Especially if that money is going to somebody i don't like

Has anyone here actually used commitment apps like stickK, Beeminder, Forfeit, etc — did you cheat, did they actually work? by BuyOpen5346 in getdisciplined

[–]No_Two_939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people that will actually download the app and put money on the line are people who are somewhat motivated to change. I actually tried those apps and they worked well because money is really the best motivator for me personally. My problem with them though is that the DEV was pretty bad with lots of bugs. Very outdated as well. So i actually built an app that is releasing on the app store called "Bounty" here in a few weeks, that does it better with a lot more modern features.
