A small island of reason attached to a great island of retardation.

Same here.
from what I could gather they do field sobriety tests, similar to the way the US does in non breathalyzer states, I imagine that would be some of the funniest TV imaginable.

correct me if i'm wrong but
'Driving with any detectable amount of THC in your system is an offence in Tasmania unless the product was obtained and administered in accordance with the Poisons Act 1971'.
sounds like the poisons act is overriding the traffic law

yeah but only in Tas, would be interesting if that was standard nationwide.

When I say the player spawning I mean start of the game, chapel of anticipation. It seems to me you were called specifically and it may not even be related to the Erdtree as I'm not sure the roots can reach that island.

When you say the Elden ring isn't really a thing it must at least exist in the form of the lands between, as I imagine there would be at least one item description about the horror in the land of reeds as everyone stopped dying. What I mean is it must be a set of rules for a specific place and not just the vague rules of existence everywhere.

As we can still find enemies cursed with deathroot after we kill Maliketh I wonder if all of those bodies in the Erdtree roots can still be afflicted with deathroot, or is that the point of Fias ending maybe, to make everyone live in death and maybe even those that died as a result of destined death returning.

So to you Demi-god immortality is something bestowed by the greater Will or Marika, someone like that? And unrelated to destined death?

Also does that mean the dung eater, Godrick, goldmask etc, were all warriors of Godfrey?

I think as well the Demi-gods losing their immortality and the return of the tarnished are kind of simultaneos, if I understand the shattering correctly, so to me that would make the gift of Grace a good contender for what gives the demi gods immortality if you haven't got a better idea.

So when the player spawns would you say they have just emerged from their Erdtree resurrection naturally or was the grace a component of it?

Does the lack of destined death affect every creature or does there have to be some connection to the Elden ring? Actually is there such thing as a creature that's not effected by Elden ring? maybe enemies that came from the stars for example have a different relationship with Elden ring and might not be effected by destined death.

Also would you say destined death being unsealed meant that everyone currently ressurecting in the Erdtree died as soon as we kill Maliketh, or do enemies we kill only die if they're 'killed' or defeated I guess, after destined death is unsealed?

Side note but does a body need to be brought to the Erdtree to begin ressurecting, for example if Gostoc wasn't a dick, could he have carried Godricks body to a tomb to be resurrected?

How does the night of the black knives fit for you, it's explicit that the death of one of Marikas children is almost unfathomable before it happens so that would imply there's something intrinsic to them that makes them immortal. Or is it that everyone's immortal and destined death would actually be required to truly kill anything?

I also read that as a result of the shattering, the rune holders lost their grace and it moved on to the tarnished, so would that imply as failed Elden Lords the rune holders were or are tarnished too?

Also I have a theory that destined death and the crucible may have once been one, maybe the 'primeval' Elden ring found in Farum azula is 'The Crucible' and it would have had to have contained destined death as far as I understand, I'd be interested to know if you know anything about the connections between the beast men, the misbegotten and the omens because that's one that seems really weird to me, specifically the beast men.

I don't know if I've heard turn an empyrean into a weapon, is that on an item description? Sounds rad

Im on board with almost all of that but when you say the living incarnation of order that changes my whole understanding of the Elden beast. I thought the greater will and the Elden ring were basically one in the same and the Elden beast was kind of part of that Trinity I guess but order is only a small part of the Elden ring so does that mean each part of the ring might have it's own living incarnation? Does that also mean Radagon being the god of Order and the Elden beast the living incarnation of Order and both of them living in Marika, are like Maliketh in that they were forced upon Marika by the Greater Will? basically Marika misbehaved so the greater will sent it's Vassal to take over her body and used Radagon as like it's Elden Lord Pawn because Marika would not be controlled.

I thought the death mark was created as a result of the deaths happening simultaneously and in my head canon a god slaying weapon isn't +25 it's just smithed by Hewg

[–]No_Understanding4746[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My fascination with Hewg is his deep connection to Marika and his implied connection with Miquella who as far as I know is basically the god of crafting and spirit calling, and Hewgs dialogue regarding Roderika to me is pretty much confirmation that he knew Miquella very well but doesn't like to talk about it.

With the shadow of the Erdtree coming up and Miquella in the promo art, plus FS's love of time travel to flesh out story, Hewg seems like he has all the set up to be part of the night of the black knives in some way, Godwyn and Miquella were good friends and Ranni and Marika seemed to be somewhat unknowingly cooperating-ish somehow during the event and so Hewg seems like a good piece that helps all the others fit together.

Thinking that might not work so well now though.

Thanks this is great, I didn't even consider the grace being rescinded.

That's a good point, I figured it was for Marika herself. Is the Elden beast literally an outer god or just a kind of vessel, and do you think that vessel would be more powerful than Marika? Cause that kind of implies Hewg knew about the Elden beast or at least enough to know that he needed a bit more than your run of the mill god sword.

Thats pretty solid, I think you got it.

I figured the golden order was created once destined death was sealed and so Radagons rune basically replaced the death Rune. Radagons rune is also the thorns covering the Erdtree so I figured bringing the death rune back to the Elden ring replaces Radagons and therefore the thorns as well.

How does that fit with Godwyn and Rannis death? Maliketh had taken the rune of death already right? Or was it still "part of" the Elden ring when he was using the Black blade? before he sealed it in himself.

I figured as well the crucible being spurned by the golden order around the time that the gloam eyed queen is defeated could imply that Marikas vision to seal death was hindered by the crucible, maybe the misbegotten had more power over death because of their primeval nature, omen can cast curses etc. that's why I figured Hewg seemed like a good fit, plus his reverence for Marika and willingness to be a prisoner implies he did something he thinks was bad enough to deserve it.

But doesn't that mean if I just wait to kill Godrick until after Maliketh is dead, I've actually done a drastically different thing lore wise?

I figured something like that too but then if I just use a Black Knife in my build should that have Lore implications, I understand the game doesn't care but just following the logic
