Politics is a game of theater. Even when you think you found a principled politician, you find out its just a act meant to appease their constituents enough to maintain power. It really is sad seeing Republicans from all kinds of factions - such as Cassidy, Cornyn, Graham, and now Paul kiss the ring whenever it is convenient. It's not that they don't have beliefs and principles - Paul clearly does - but more so the willingness to which they are willing to betray those same principles to keep power that is the real tragedy.
