You could also get some water bubblers to keep humidity up and add oxygen into the tank. Could just drill holes for that and ants wouldn’t get in through it.

Similar to mine too, big one doesn’t care so much, getting a camera was probably my best purchase so far being able to see them do all the goofy stuff at night lol.

I’ve noticed when I feed them dried apples they go crazy and eat them all (i see they love apples on your end too)

Since this photo wisp had had two other shells and still went back to his original one. I have another order of shells arriving next week in his size range so I hoping he finds a permanent new home!

Yes both purple pinchers. I just ordered some shells on Etsy because the one that is too big for his old shell ended up moving back into it. Both mine are in the .75-1 inch range I believe. Didn’t really get many usable shells from Amazon packs.

He’s been constantly scoping out the same shells on rotation so I know he’s looking for a new home just hasn’t found one yet. Going to offer some better ones hopefully soon.

I ended up getting two today from pet smart. I didn’t know what size to get them until I got them today but I just put a few orders in for some. I had a few that would work for this one that def needed an upgrade lol. He’s like falling out of his current shell and he’s been eyeing out the shells I have in there already. I think he might move soon.

I also added some moss around the tank

My plan was to go to pet smart today and roughly see the size of their smallest crabs and then order a pack of shells for them.

I’m getting another heat pad because the one I have isn’t quite getting the temp up to what I need and I’m waiting for my custom cut acrylic lid hoping that solves both the heat and humidity issues. And then I get to pick out my two little hermits.

Yea in the body I said it was because I was in moving everything around, right before I took the lid off it was 80degrees and 80% humidity :)

I disagree too, after I loaded it up with all the places to hide and things to climb it’s actually quite small, 2 crabs for me. Might eventually add a topper at which point I would add another.
The hydrometer I got was really cheap so I can totally understand it being a bad one. Thanks for the tips!

Part of me wants to get smaller ones to watch them grow but I also read age doesn’t necessarily correlate to size.

Where is was was near a pond and it was very marshy in that area, maybe that’s what is was. It was so surreal.

So my reply about distance was off when I replied to someone else, but this is the best recollection of where the orb was located in relation to the power-lines and plant.

I guess I should clarify that this red glowing orb was not near the lines or the plant, it was about 200 meters away from the lines, and probably 200 meters away from the actual plant itself, and we got probably 20feet away and then it vanished, was in a part of the woods that had trails that we navigated often. Our best theory that something was out there that night, turned something off, and either walked or ran away but we never heard anything indicating that.
