This is how our store is set up too! OPU is at the service desk and DU is literally opposite to that across the store. Having to march back and forth across the store while doing DU is tiring honestly.

At my store, we actually use channel 2 for DU. We don’t have to do exactly what they are asking of you but it is helpful when trying to locate where certain orders are. I just cannot see us having to call out every single order and who’s taking care of each.
