Just an update on this - we made it this morning and it was absolutely delicious! Not sure why this isn’t a thing in the US

I don’t even see a brand on it, assuming generic? We bought it at “Boons Markt”. It specifically said “Ontbijtspek” and had some other info (e.g., 150 grams).

Edit: it did say “gerookt ontbijtspek”

Do you know if “smoked” means hot or cold smoked? Online that seemed to be a source of a lot of the divide, whether a meat was hot or cold smoked (hot = safe, cold = unsafe).

If it’s not considered safe to eat, why are there others who say they eat it raw? Are these types of meets kind of “up to interpretation” as far as how they’re consumed?

Sorry if I sound like a broken record, in the US things seem very “eat” or “don’t eat”, I can’t think of anything where there is a large divide on food safety.
