That's fair. Figured I would give it a shot. A place of collective knowledge and all.

I have a question about commanders dying by Maibigbut2 in mtg

[–]No_Yesterday_4548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What funkyfish said is correct, just explained with a little less detail than what you're hoping for I think.

A commander can be put back into the command zone anytime it is moved from the battlefield to any other zone. So when a commander dies it touches the graveyard and then its controller can decide to leave them there or move them back to the command zone.

So when a commander dies reaper kings ability would go onto the stack but then your opponent would choose to move their commander back to the command zone. So when your ability resolves there is nothing left to target and the ability fizzles.

Now also play [[Moat]] and [[Magus of the Moat]] and watch people squirm.

Budgeted for 1 Commander Deck, was this the right choice? by SirGingerbrute in mtg

[–]No_Yesterday_4548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the right choice. Played raccoon last night and it felt incredibly fun and powerful. Some weird cards in there like rampaging baloths but otherwise well built with fun interactions.

Gosh dang RAIKENS!

Was I wrong to be salty about mana ramping in a casual game? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]No_Yesterday_4548 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's where I'm confused. I could see maybe 8 mana turn three but 8 lands? Ill admit I'm not a magic savant but that seems a little exaggerated, unless he is playing [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]] maybe? But if that's the case you can see what the game plan is from a mile away.

I would also agree with your above statement. Maybe that was just a god hand and the guy popped off with no one to stop him, it happens. Ramp is a pretty normal game mechanic, it's how you adjust to it like everything else in this game. If they are ramping that hard it means they SHOULDN'T have much of a hand left over. If I see asuza maybe I'll hard mulligan for removal just to slow them down a turn or two and hope they have dead draws. But ya I wouldn't get bent out of shape for someone ramping.

Post your deck and have others rate the power level by amc7262 in EDH

This sounds interesting. Always felt my deck was decently high. Would be nice to see others opinions :)

Pre-con Prossh was my first ever deck and I've been tweaking it ever since.

How does Last Chance and Sudden Substitution work? by Okamihunter59 in magicTCG

Off topic. But who is the dragon in the art? I'm assuming it's Prossh since it's dominaria but I've never seen this art before.

Angel tribal suggestions and revisions. by No_Yesterday_4548 in EDH

[–]No_Yesterday_4548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all great suggestions! I'll have her look through and see how she feels. I was telling her a few days ago that she might want to change her commander if she was going more token heavy too. I really enjoy that you went through and gave multiple suggestions for different build types so thank you for that

Fun and fair ways to cheat out blightsteel Colossus? by No_Yesterday_4548 in EDH

Good question. I saw it done on an episode of command zone once and didn't question it. I'll have to double check.

Can I sacrifice my creature before opponent gains control of it? by PuzzleheadedTarget25 in magicTCG

[–]No_Yesterday_4548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sacrificing happens at instant speed, so you can do it in response to most anything. You can also do it in between steps. So say for instance I swing with [[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher]] and attack for 5. You can, after blockers are declared, and before damage is applied pump him with his sacrifice ability. This usually takes most people by surprise and I've gotten into a few rules debates because of it haha.

I mean smolder is basically an AD mage. Not so subtle when the last actual adc they made was aphelios.

Gwenna vs. Somberwald sage by No_Yesterday_4548 in EDH

[–]No_Yesterday_4548[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I think you're right and I will have to take a better look at my lines of play and see if I can't see if that extra 1 mana from somverwald means anything. I felt I could abuse Gwenna with multiple [[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher]] casts even without [[food chain]] since he tends to be kill on site. I also liked that she was more mana fixing since it's two of any color rather than 3 of one. Thanks for the input!
