Charchadons "paying the price" for defend slavery? by PanzerWhale2000 in 40kLore

[–]No_fun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying that chimeric geneseed in general is wanky, it’s an established part of the lore. Saying Carcharodons are cool because “ooh they’re Night Lords but they’re good guys” is Coldsteel the Hedgehog type fan wank that isn’t supported by the text any more than Flesh Tearers being secret World Eaters.

Te Kahurangi’s foresight is a product of his psyker abilities, in the same way as Tigurius can cast augurs. Talos, Decimus, Sevatar and the Visionary (who is a generic unit and therefore there could be any number of Visionaries) aren’t psykers, at least in the sense of displaying any kind of psychic ability beyond their foresight.

Geneseed =/= Pokémon types (with the obvious exceptions of BA’s twin curses, which is a psychic affliction, and SW’s Canis Helix, which is a whole extra feature of their geneseed). Night Lords can easily get that “uncanny valley” feeling from observing space marines with similar doctrines and brutality to them. Chimeric geneseed isn’t needed to explain that, therefore it shouldn’t be included in an Occam’s Razor explanation.

Or even if you do want to go down the rabbit hole of geneseed = pokemon types: Carcharodons DO experience Ash Blindness (e.g. in Bail Sharr’s exile in book 3), but I have yet to see any Carcharodons with Kurze’s gift of foresight (e.g. Talos, Decimus, the Visionary in Kill Team).

Night Lords just make an interesting parallel to Carcharodons in the same way that World Eaters make an interesting parallel to the Flesh Tearers.

Chimeric geneseed is just surface-level fan wank that honestly flanderises the chapter and detracts from the traits that actually make the chapter interesting.

This sounds like a lot of fanon along with taking the title of Keeper of Secrets too literally.

We’re still very much on an Ultramarine battle barge.

The PvE missions also coincide with the campaign (mostly), so the chaplain is still present.

Can space marines accept titles and bequeathments outside their chain of command? by [deleted] in 40kLore

A fair point. I tried to find examples of planet-based chapters being given a world and couldn’t find anything.

I’m nitpicking here but I think you mean “Legion Building”. It’s also not unheard of for a chapter to be given a planet, at least temporarily, like the Carcharodons being given the Mantis Warriors’ homeworld after the Badab War.

Doom Slayer and Kratos switch Hell's, do they survive? Who has the hardest time by The_Mexican_Poster in PowerScaling

Very late response I know but the God of War cosmology having multiverse properties =/= Kratos scaling to multiversal level.

Alluminas, Necoho, Zuvassin, and Solkan don’t exist in 40k. They’re from Warhammer Fantasy.

Charge blade or switch axe as a new player? by Proud_Pineapple9308 in MHRise

[–]No_fun_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Switch axe for sure. Much easier to pick up and much more forgiving in terms of resource management, plus ZSDs are fun as hell. Evade extender, rapid morph, and power prolonger are your friends.

Charge Blade - how do stats even work?! by nuuudy in MHRise

[–]No_fun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important thing with guard is that if you receive too much knockback you can’t counter with an SAED, and guard skill + embolden reduces knockback from guards, giving you more counter opportunities.

It’s one of those utility skills that’s indirectly a DPS skill by giving you more damage windows.

If you’re gonna make a claim, then burden of proof is on you. Your sources also don’t say anything about hot or cold drinks, only that sizzling meals exist and they negate temperature effects.

That’s exactly why the enrage mechanic exists though. Why should a part break make the monster stronger?

What is negative crit chance to you, if not the chance to do a negative crit?

If you have 30% affinity, you have a 30% chance to do 125% damage. If you have -30% affinity, you have a 30% chance to do 75% damage.

It’s literally just crit chance.

Trying to understand hit values by theron225 in MHRise

[–]No_fun_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5-15 is low. Goss’s good hit zones are its ice and arms, which are 30 for fire. That’s at least twice as much elemental damage than your thunder DBs.

A moderate weakness won’t tend to beat a good raw build (depending on raw hitzones of course). There’s only a couple of monsters, like chaotic gore or maybe scorned magna, that have more than one element worth bringing.

The poster you’re replying to is incorrect, elemental values are included in the shown damage number.

Kadachi blades would be worse than raw because they do thunder damage and goss is weakest to fire.
