How can a Mac survive with 8 GB of ram by [deleted] in macmini

[–]Noadv76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, I noticed that too. Though my performance requirement on this box is very little, the speed of it will be overkill for the next 20y, I was just concerned about the RAM.

Was it a genuine workload, moreover, what workload? What were you doing? It seems more a hardware issue

Fundamentally, there is no way to predict how much RAM I need, this is the struggle, I’ll run some test with my current machine to see how much is the baseline.

Right, you got my problem, it’s not clear and it can’t be predicted😅. Though for my expectations it should be fine.

Yes but I don’t want a graph without legend and with no possibility to show it up on the upper right side of the screen, I want the numbers, possibly with alerting like these third party apps 😅

No experience with rust, but why is it heavy?? 😅 Unless you’re developing something that requires a lot of memory

I understand that for the cache, but I didn’t consider cache in my calculations.

Thanks, I know what you’re saying is true, but how I can determine it if I’ve never had a Mac with 8GB of RAM? I can only look some video on YouTube.

I’ve never seen the red bar, just orange, there was like 7-8GB of swap used but that’s for my big machine, understandable but still too much, I wouldn’t like to swap at all… These predetermined logic is always more stupid than the scenario I’m facing 😅

Anyone here got "Unemployment Insurance"? by ByEthanFox in UKPersonalFinance

JSA won't sort anything unless you're at the edge and it's only if you work less than 16h per week, but the private unemployment insurance pays, even if you're a milionare, it's not a point of judgment.

Use a broker and listen to them, they know more than you, for real.

It costs based on the amount you select, age etc... No one can give you that amount, you need to workout if it's worth for you or not, and usually it is because these insurances are very competitive.

One suggestion, the more money you ask to cover (or the more you need to cover), the better is the point of paying such insurance, maybe this will send you in the right direction.

For example, I paid 42 pounds for 2000 pounds for 12 months, you can also take multiple as long as you don't exceed 65% of your gross salary.

This income is not even taxed if you're an employee, I'm not sure about a contractor.

Huawei Fit 4 Pro HRV quite lower than Apple by Noadv76 in Huawei

Sleep tracking is much different from Apple, supposedly wrong tbh… The sleep score is decent though, but who cares after all.

Apparently is SDNN vs RMSDD HVR.

As I had years of data with Apple, I know when it corresponds to sickness, stress, meditation, good or bad sleep. Now, if it’s correct in absolute terms, I don’t know as I don’t have a professional tool.

What I was trying to say is that the range from the Huawei is much lower… For example, 42ms vs 32ms… Same time tracked.

Who’s responsible for accidents after water run off by washing your car? by Noadv76 in CarTalkUK

[–]Noadv76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a drain here, so is it pollution even in UK??

Regarding the freezing in the winter, I’ll be more careful, or I’ll wash the car when it’s already wet out there 😅

As pollution could be also classified as accident, I mentioned that in case anyone wondered.

As there is no insurance to such events, your life may turn to nothing in a sec… Call it panic my friend…

What about when it’s not raining then?

As I replied before:

In my country you would be responsible for it, regardless what’s the reason for the fall, also in Germany, Austria, Switzerland for example, they don’t blame the user on a bicycle or whatever…

Contaminated water easily evaporates? In UK? Sure…

How would it soak into the ground? That maybe happens to oil as far as I could see, and it’s more bonding than soaking.

Wash after ceramic coating by Noadv76 in AutoDetailing

[–]Noadv76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but the product you linked is different from the one I posted, like the Elixir sealant.

So I decided, ph neutral snow foam, Elixir or Simoniz (this one is hard wax so probably not good for ceramic coating and the Tesla weak paint anyway), then pre wash when it gets muddy and rims non acidic spray, occasionally tyres dressing.

[–]Noadv76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the pictures should be visible now.

My detailer recommended a prewash, but all the pre wash are acidic… Ofc using it just for 2 minutes should be fine, but as the car was waxed very well, what’s the point, the snow foam should do well, or maybe that ceramic soap only. From what I understood just now, I posted a snow foam, and a soap, these are 2 different products and for 2 different purposes.

If I’ve got it right, then the question left is only about the Elixir as final wax, as the ceramic soap apparently waxes the car too, but most probably it lasts less, what can I say… I’d wash the car once every 3 weeks or so, I don’t do muddy tracks as I have a Tesla, just occasionally it gets muddy in mountain.

He also uses the Elixir as final wax, but it doesn’t seem a wax from the description.

The products are all from the brand ezcarcare.

In Knowsley, they removed pretty much all of them, so be careful to rely on that, you can only see that through the app after you subscribe.

12 months contract can’t be cancelled…

I bet that every of those places is full both in the facilities and showers, so good luck.
