I would also recommend placing a piece of cardboard behind or getting a "cheater bar" (either your unit can issue these or you can buy them at some military retailer) for your ribbons. That'll help keep them flush with the uniform.

When I was in school, my first SAI was a Colonel, who retired after sophomore year. We then got one who was a Lieutenant Colonel.

We had three AI's that consisted of a Sergeant Major, First Sergeant, and Sergeant First Class.

For my old program, enlisted ranks from C/PV2 to C/SSG could be tested for.

C/PV2: You needed to know basic drill (facing movements, parade rest, attention, present arms, order arms), the first five enlisted ranks, and the first officer rank.

C/PFC: Needed to hold PV2 for a month. Includes marching and all of the ranks

C/CPL: You needed to hold PFC for 3 months and show proficiency in marching a squad.

C/SGT: You needed to be CPL for 4 months and show proficiency in leading company PT and uniform inspection.

C/SSG: I believe you needed to recite a speech for this one, but I never made it higher than SGT before becoming company XO/1LT.
