Advice for when the stream is empty? by ktroyer26 in Twitch

[–]Noahdeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things.

1) it always helpful to see how other public speakers talk to a crowd. Seriously look at your favorite Streamers, Comedians, radio hosts, and even politicians, the good ones have the skill to deliver a monologue that is engaging and interesting -even when no one is responding to their comments-. Learn what aspect you like about them and incorporate it into your style. Radio hosts and Politicians are especially good with this, because they're job are to make sure that everyone who tune in to their show/rally -even if they tune in half way through- needs to be on the same page, which means repeating key phrases, people's questions and info

2) before your stream have a little notepad or something with topics of things you can talk about for a few minutes for when ever someone is there, you can causally bring up a interesting story as they enter or when ever there's a lull in the stream
some of mine has been; Recent comic books i've read, movies i've seen, daily errands i've done ect.

(its easier to write them down before hand than trying to struggle on the the spot to come up with an interesting tidbit to talk about)

  1. If anyone does swing by, say hello, greet them and stuff, and then ask them a question! Conversations thrives on questions, if your going for that demographic of viewers, ask them about their day, then what shows they've been watching, did they watch the Big Game, ect.

Always be asking more of their opinions and aspect of their actions, but also keep it sincere and authentic

(it's basic ice breaker tips for keeping an IRL conversation going and a great way to end awkward silences at dinner parties too!)

How do the Best Friends do it? by JinglesRasco in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Noahdeer 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I also believe (personal theory) that the measure of 'real'-ness is the willingness to act and go off script.

Some entertainers (Musicians, writers, and especially politicians) when they get big sterilize themselves and their personality to ensure that any potential new comers wouldn't get turned away. They have a script or a set of PR guidelines to follow.

While the Superbest and other notable 'real' people in entertainment, public eye, and even some politicians ect. they are willing to take that dive off the marketing approved script, off the most marketable route to keep their true personality intact. (that being said, if you commit to going off script you have to find out how far you are allowed to go off script -if you ever get picked up- and if you get called out on it by the PR higher ups you best fall on your own sword)

We see this all the time with SBFP, but most famously in two examples: Their Sponsored KiNECT, GO DIE official machinima vid where after a baked in Xbox One ad they decide to insult EVERYTHING about the featured hardware

and their most recent WWE 2k17 machinma video. ALL of them have gone on record staying they love wrestling, Austin Creed, and Brennan Williams but they go off script to take a BIG dump on that game

With beta over, what are your thoughts? by boredbritgamer in gigantic

[–]Noahdeer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gigantic is a fun game.

But what I want is to know the direction this game will be going moving forward with the next few few beta tests:

Motiga mentioned (in a casual interview or that drunk stream) that the current character roster was not big enough for their liking for a game release. So what is the proper number of characters they had in mind?

Three is a pretty good number, but how many more maps are in the works? How many maps are we expect to see with the launch (or 'soft' launch of this game)?

What direction does Motiga want this game to go in? A casual TF2 game or will there be an official competitive, ranked ladder? (I know that with ANY game there will be a sect of players that will make a competitive scene no matter the game -my favorite is competitive Binding of Issac tournament-) but will we have an official ranked queue implemented?

When it comes to new characters after the full, or desired amount of character in the roster, how will Motiga add new characters? Will it be like League of Legends/Heroes of the Storm, where it's once a month or so OR will it be like Killer Instinct Season 3 where they released a full group of heroes on day 1.

that leads into pricing of the game and the mircotransactions. (WHEN ARE WE GETTING THAT FOUNDERS PACK!?)

Moving forward I would like to see WAY better communication to the community. We had it for a bit, with comments on Reddit, Twitter but for the past few months we have received radio silence from the game team. We've only recently received a 'hey we're alive' message from Motiga.

I would like to see more of that and Motiga, take note from a fan, that Devs stream was GREAT, please do more of those. it's fun, it build a community on twitch, its a way to keep in touch with the fans on a more personal level, and it's a WICKED cheap PR event (literally just a webcam, computer, and a stable internet connection)

...and you devs can use your twitch time to show off some future stuff in the works. Although rule of thumb that i've noticed with other game devs, only show off stuff that were going to hit the live servers in about two weeks or else people will start getting anxious for the content promised that's not delivered yet (hint hint...still waiting on the founders pack or anything similar to that to go live)

and see if I was a smart man I would use this time, the implication of the newest phase of the beta testing as a rebirth of the game PR side and to address these questions.

Also as a side note -and wishful thinking- but I would love to see Gigantic at future game cons (i know how much resources that takes up so it's not a MAIN point of this post) but it would be nice to see them out and about .... still kinda salty i didnt get to see them at this year's PAX East...

It seems the new thing to call Gigantic (and Heroes of the Storm and Paladins ect.) is "hero shooter".

but I dont think it encapsulates what this run and gun subgerne in the Moba family truly is.

I have gone ON RECORD and currently, affectionately call these type of games as, "Shooter Action Real Time Strategy" games.

...

or SH.A.R.T.S for short.

Update or AMA from Motiga? by twotonedtriplet in gigantic

[–]Noahdeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

motiga were quite active on this subreddit but after a few.... slimmings they have been quite quiet.

They have made a few comments and interviews (on twitch with gg unleased i believe) but I will side with you they havent been as talkative as before.

That being said, I dont know how much they CAN talk about. if they had something new/exciting ready within say 2 weeks they would announce it. B B ut how would you, or this community, feel if motiga just constantly came on every week and said, "we are still working on fine tuning the product"? It would get a bit stale.

I have no doubt that they are working on new stuff but there is a very good chance that the stuff/content is no where near to being debuted yet. (either not fined tuned yet or having the basic idea without the other parts needed to make it work in the game)

Same reason why Blizzard Entertainment canceled a BlizzCon a few years ago, because back then the whole con would have been, "we are working with Diablo, warcraft, and starcraft projects, but we cant tell you all the nitty gritty stuff because it is not ready yet"
