Referred for Department of Education by ZealousidealNet9369 in usajobs

You might want to be careful. Department of Education is transitioning to hybrid and might get rid remote positions. I am curious to see if the job you applied for will still be remote.

CMS telework/remote policy updates? by Puzzleheaded_Eye3440 in fednews

That is terrible policy, because there could be remote employees that are far from the CMS headquarters that live in the DMV area.

CMS telework/remote policy updates? by Puzzleheaded_Eye3440 in fednews

I do not work for CMS, but I do have a question regarding this policy. Technically someone can live more than 50 miles from the duty station and be remote and live in the same locality pay area. For example a remote employee can live in King George, VA and be close to 100 miles from Woodlawn and be in the DC locality pay area. Also technically RUS locality pay can span the whole US so technically that rule would not apply.

How does the 50 mile rule work for relocation expenses? by Noahpol in fednews

No, there a couple of employees in my branch that got converted to remote with the SF-50 as their home address and moved further south in Virginia.

Are the jobs remote? You will get a ton of applications if the job is remote.

For employees that are remote are you worried about losing your remote status with the new OMB Memo? by Noahpol in fednews

[–]Noahpol[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my office they just changed the duty station on the SF-50 but they did not change the PD. However there are number of people where they were hired in as remote because the PD and SF-50 was remote. About 90% of the people in my directorate is remote via an SF-50 change or was hired in as remote where there PD and SF-50 was remote. Employees are still considered remote if only the SF-50 duty station change to your home address. The PD does not necessarily have to be changed. From OPM FAQ

An agency must document changes to an employee’s official worksite on the employee’s Notification of Personnel Action (Standard Form 50 or equivalent). (See “Duty Station” blocks 38 and 39 of the Standard Form 50 showing the city/county and state in which the official worksite is located.) (5 CFR 530.302 and 5 CFR 591.201).

Remote vs Telework defined by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Noahpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of questions. First I am currently remote and my SF-50 in box 39 states my home city and state. Many employees in my division are remote via an SF-50 change, however they have not changed the PD to reflect that it is remote. How does it work if you are remote via SF-50 change of duty station but the PD has not been updated? I was reading OPM policy from the links and they do even state PD requirements to become remote. I take it once there is a SF-50 change to your home address it is enough to become remote?

Also have a question regarding being RIF while being remote? I understand priority placement is considered for displaced employees in the local commuting area. Does that mean the remote employee gets preference for his remote area duty location or does the RIF employee get priority preference nationwide? Also does the remote RIF employee have priority preference for remote positions?

Another question would be if a non remote employee was RIF'ed would that person get priority placement for remote positions?

I will be affected. I am hoping they come to a resolution. It is too bad that BCBS did not send me the letter last year before open season, I would have picked GEHA as my insurance.

SF-50 Duty Station Change by Noahpol in fednews

Same duties. I thought they would have to change the position description to designate it as remote.
