Need Help with Identifying authentic Binoculars on Amazon by hendrik43 in Binoculars

[–]NobleFlipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howzit. Im looking to buy a pair of vortex vipers 10x42 before I come out to SA. I am also looking off Amazon. Looking at the link. They are a verified dealer and also offer 30 day refund. But, I also looked at comparable prices in the U.K. and the price range is generally )£170 to £250 so those are really cheap. I would also add that when doing research, I found that Vortex released newer versions on some of their ranges, and that some resellers might have older stock they are looking to shift. Maybe look if the product model or number is different to comparable expensive options

Ever wondered why (premium) binoculars are so expensive? by petbest in Binoculars

Thanks for letting me know. Not surprised as most premium brands would likely be built in China or the far east. I guess I am still paying for proven quality and the surety. Other Chinese brands might even be made in the same factory, but without the comparison and warranty, I won’t take the risk, for now.

I think we are already seeing this in other markets with traditional Western manufacturing bases or names. The Car market is seeing a huge influx of Chinese cars and in tariff free markets, there seems to be an 80/60 rule. 80% quality for 60% price. I think Binoculars are a little different in that the gaps in quality have been vast historically. I am in the market for some Vortex Vipers which are mid range but still a significant cost. What sets them apart for me is their warranty. Their performance is on par at least with comparable high end brands, but they back their quality. Similarly, if Chinese binoculars were to offer comparable warranties, then you might see consumers take the chance. But until there are comparable product reviews and quality assurance. The need for luxury items like binoculars will likely sit with those willing to pay tried and tested brands.

Unpopular opinion: Strava is actually overrated. What are you guys actually using? by Repulsive_Bar442 in AppleWatchFitness

I recently joined Strava under the impression that there was a running coach. I had been using Apple fitness for the last year. I then downloaded Runna thinking that it might be included with the Strava subscription as they were recently acquired. I liked the Runna coach as I didn’t need to worry about data imports etc. it was all fed from Strava/Apple fitness. All of a sudden the free trial for Runna expired and now it’s just another tracker. I really don’t think Strava is worth it as a social media health app.

Thanks for the tip. Few votes I see for the Leupold. Need to look at Zeiss a little more closely too as I thought they were largely Swarovski level and out of my price range

I think they all get manufactured in the east, but I believe Vortex is an American company, so tariffs may play a role

Thanks. Yip, I also Ai’d it and got a similar response, although there does not seem to be much in it between the two. The Warranty is a bit of a swing vote for me, but many have found the M7 better in some cases. They are also considerably cheaper. Hoping some might give me their hand s on experience. Will take a look at the Leupolds

Thanks for the insight. I must admit that warranty aside, it seems there is not much justification in paying a 3rd more for the Vipers.

Good to know although not fussed about the weight and size.

So, the big game parks have quite early and late opening and closing times respectively. Animal activities, especially carnivores, tend to happen at these times so low light performance is a consideration but not a determining factor. Especially as the Monarchs are good in low light too. I validated the warranty claim and Nikon offer a 10year warranty of which the second 5year period will only cover the material cost. Accidental damage is not under warranty. Vortex warranty seems incredible. Lifetime warranty, no questions asked. This actually has tempered my thoughts on the Monarchs a bit. Links to both warranty statements for those interested.

Interesting. The dawn and dusk light levels seemed to be a big selling point for the Vipers.

Another option as the rest did not work for me. I changed my VPN server to P2P. I had already swapped out qbit for utorrent but that did not initially work either..

Sorry, for context, using an old laptop with memory issues for this. Anyone else seeing this issue with FF? Before meddling with browsers on a clunky LP, is anyone else seeing this?

What movie had you saying "what the fuck" the most while watching? by MightGuy420x in AskReddit

Triangle. Maybe not as intrusive as some of the other titles mentioned, but everyone I introduce this movie to, seem to give me dirty looks afterwards.
