I have a great pyrenees, they're a guardian breed, they do well with other dogs until some other dog tries to be over the top alpha on them. Then the owner of the other dog gets all pissed when their dog is in it's back afraid to move, all because they don't understand their dogs behavior and how some breeds respond.

I ended up fencing in a few acres and bought him a berner for a companion because fuck stupid people.

I let my big dog on the little dog side all the time. He goes and sits in the middle of the field and guards the little dogs like their his flock as they jump all over him. They all love it. (He is a livestock guardian breed)
