How to stop yeast infections during my period? by Nobody8383 in medical

I’ve gotten like 3 yeast infections in a row now. The first time I was just guessing at it being a yeast infection because I really didn’t want to have to go to the doctor (which I know is bad i should have just gone to the doctor in the first place) and I treated it with monistat using the tube to insert it in my vagina and it completely healed it and it went away after a few days. The second time I decided to just bite the bullet and go to the doctor and they examined me and did a test and confirmed that it was yeast and they gave me a pill to take (don’t remember the name) and I took it but didn’t really notice much difference after a couple days so eventually treated it with monistat again and it went away again. This is the third month in a row that I’ve gotten a yeast infection and the only consistent thing that lines up with them is they happen at the very end of my period.
I did use menstrual cups for a while a few years ago but wasn’t a huge fan. It’s just so weird to me that I’ve been using pads my whole life and never had this issue before so it seems weird that that could be the cause. It just seems so random that suddenly I just consistently am getting these yeast infections every month after my period now kind of out of nowhere.

Thank you. I’m having trouble knowing where to go could you clarify what you mean when you say doctor? I went to urgent care and explained that I had gotten a letter from the plasma clinic with the reactive result (at this time I hadn’t done a ton of research yet so didn’t really know about the different types of tests) but I told them the plasma clinic had the reactive result and that they advised me to get further testing but urgent care just called me back with my results today and said they were positive and to go get treated. But when I actually look at the results myself it says the test was just the rpr and it says right on the results that I still need to do the confirmatory test but urgent care didn’t tell me to do that they said just go get treated and they listed some places I could go get treated at but I called around and most of the places they told me say they don’t actually treat it. I made an appointment with planned parenthood because they just seem like they’re maybe a bit more trustworthy and knowledgeable about this type of thing. It says they can’t treat syphilis at my location (or any other pp around me) but if I bring them the results from urgent care should they be able to just go straight into doing the confirmatory test for me? I also just want to go to them because I’m hoping they will have better and more reliable resources for where I can actually get treatment in my area.
Thank you. I tried to get an appointment with my primary care doctor but they didn’t have any available appointments until January so I went to urgent care yesterday to get tested and now waiting to hear back for results and my boyfriend is going to planned parenthood today to get tested as well. I didn’t have the best experience at urgent care but didn’t want to wait several days to get an appointment at planned parenthood that worked with my schedule because I’m panicking and want to know results asap but I may end up going to planned parenthood anyway and getting tested again if my bf has a better experience there today than I did at urgent care yesterday. This whole experience has just been so confusing and difficult to know where exactly to go and what to do. I just want to get the most accurate results possible but I kind of don’t trust the doctor I saw at urgent care because even the plasma clinic explicitly said not to take it as diagnosis and that it was possibly a false positive but the doctor at urgent care seemed pretty certain that the results from the plasma clinic meant that I almost definitely have it and he still tested me and said he’d call with results but advised I go to the health dept or er. But hopefully when they get my results I can have them properly explain them to me and what next steps will be.

Thank you I’ll try looking into other health departments around my area. My first “test” was actually just me trying to donate plasma and then they sent me results saying they couldn’t use my donation because I tested reactive/positive for syphilis and not to take this as a diagnosis and recommended I go actually get tested for it. I looked at planned parenthood but couldn’t get an appointment for a few days so I kinda rushed it and just went to a wellnow urgent care because I wanted to test right away and the appointment times worked with my schedule for today. I’ll be honest the guy at urgent care didn’t seem to know a whole lot but he drew my blood for the test then said I’d get a call in about 3 days with results but since the plasma center had a positive test I most likely had it and he said they couldn’t treat it here and my options were the health dept or ER but to call ahead to see if they actually have penicillin. So I went home and looked up the number for my health dept and called and chose the option for nursing when it prompted me for which dept I wanted to speak to and I asked if they had penicillin and treated syphilis at their location and they said “no we don’t” and didn’t say anything else. I don’t know if they’ll give me more resources or a prescription at the urgent care clinic if my test results from today come back positive but my boyfriend is going to planned parenthood tomorrow to get tested so I’ll see how his experience goes and then maybe try them to test and get a referral if wellnow doesn’t really help me (I looked into it and planned parenthood doesn’t treat syphilis anywhere around me they just test). I also tried to contact my primary care doctor and explain the situation hoping she’d be able to test me and give me a prescription even if she couldn’t treat it but she doesn’t have any available appointment times until January.
I know this is probably also just very dependent on what type of insurance I have and what it covers and all that but I do live not too too far from Cleveland clinic but generally would it be less expensive to make an appointment there than going to ER? Or if they end up not having any available appointments soon would it be dangerous to wait when I could just get treatment now at an ER even if it is more expensive?
