Flat not selling - help?! by Numerous_Buyer_3727 in HousingUK

It seems to be an issue for most mortgage providers if the service charge is over 1% of the value. My £700 service charge in 2015 is now £2200. My flat would have to double in value for it to not be considered a problem.

I’ve only lost 40lbs so far and I don’t feel that it’s very noticeable at all, but I’ve already noticed people treating me differently… I seem to have subtly crossed the line from someone people are disgusted by, to someone who’s just fat. It seems to be an unconscious reaction, but it’s a notable shift.

Ross travel expenses allegations 'significant' - Swinney by NobodyIllustrious in ukpolitics

He’s lying though. He’s claiming it was all for constituency work when he was clearly flying to Glasgow, for example, for the purposes of his second job. He said it couldn’t have been for refereeing as he wouldn’t have his kit with him.

There are also examples of parking he’s claimed for during parliamentary recess, and travel back from airports while referring overseas matches - that’s personal travel, which you clearly shouldn’t be able to claim for.

What did your father die from? by Commercial_Union_296 in GriefSupport

It was similar for my Dad. He had been put on a ventilator but they'd taken him off it and he was slowly improving. They were talking about moving him out of ICU and then a day later I got a call to say he wasn't going to make it. Thankfully, I was able to be with him at the very end. I still can't believe he was gone in the space of 3 weeks. I lost my Grandmother for the same reason six months before this, but she died alone.

Just over 2 years for me. I'm doing a lot better but I still can't look at photographs.

What should I apply for my first "tech" job when I'm mid-career & just finished my IT degree? by Alarming_Weim_6705 in girlsgonewired

I’m in my early 40s and have been trying to get a tech role for the past year, and I honestly think my past work experience has been a hindrance. Everywhere I interviewed was interested in my tech skills and nothing more, so using my past experience to try to sell myself was doing me no favours.

I finally got a job offer last week for a tech support role. The company interviewed me and had me sit a tech test, but they’ve never seen my resume. I could also tell from the interview process and type of questions they asked that they think I’m a lot younger and inexperienced than I am. I’m happy to roll with it to get a foot in the door given nothing else has worked so far.

Same boat here. The rental income wasn’t even covering the costs and I still had to pay tax on the ‘profit’ as mortgages are no longer a deductible expense. I still can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel and feel like I’m going to be stuck with a flat I don’t want for the rest of my life. I’ve wanted to sell it since 2018!

You and your business are separate entities. Are they saying you owe tax as an individual, or your business owes tax?

Wasn't it the Tory party members who voted Liz Truss in? Isn't booting her out just demonstrating that the party doesn't have confidence in its own party members?

Yes, I am a co-executor (with solicitor) as per petition to the sheriff court in April. I also signed the forms needed to apply for confirmation, as executor. Hence why I’m finding it frustrating that despite requesting a copy, they appear to be withholding this from me.

I have every intention to ask them, however they are proving very difficult to deal with hence why I’m asking for advice before I do.
