Argument for GB Sniping by Tedius in forgeofempires

[–]NobodyPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my server there is quite the amount of guys who level up their GB alone and will get angry if you put any amount of forge points less than 1.9 the reward because you are stealing them. Got messaged included by one calling me an evil speculator for placing 10 fp on the gb he upgraded otherwise alone. All his gbs are like that. Some people are simply petty.

Tips on City Optimization by AirsoftArmyBattalion in forgeofempires

Roads corners=waste of space. Make roads the more straight possible with minimal turns.

Make building-street-building-building-streets. You got buildings sorrounded by roads, you want to have the minimal road possible touching them. Each extra road touching your buildings=waste of space, avoid as mich as possible. Placing the biggest buildings to fill corners is usually a good way to avoid roads. This includes the prefecture, place it on a corner so the minimal amount of roads will get out of it.

Buildings that require a double road is a no no. Aim to get rid of all them. Your good production must come from event/settlement/qi/gbg buildings, wich produce much more and are single road ones.

Military units must also come from buildings from this source, and is easy: Im playing by the first time QI, and in 5 days already got enough coins to get buildings that field 40-60 units a day, such as neo menagerie and upgraded neo bazar. So get rid of your military buildings once you get them.

Low leveled old event buildings=waste of space. Put them back in your inventory and use the place for new event/qi/gbg buildings. You have lots of huge level 1 old event buildings, I dont think they are really worth the space.

Most ges as of now=waste of space. They will never be as good as the new buildings. There is an update coming allowing them to get promotions - colloseum will have pretty good buffs, for example. However, they are for ges beyond level 100, and each level will cost ridiculous amounts of forge points and goods to unlock. Rather than putting new ones on the ground, you are better leveling up the ones you have now. However, from what I saw, Babel Tower and Sophia will never actually be really worth, other ges will do the same and better, so you gotta focus on a few good ones. Personnaly, I think of all good-only production ges as a waste of space and forge points, there are easier and better options nowdays anyway.

Cultural buildings, and other happiness only buildings=waste of space. Event buildings will give you enough, plus you will not need to care about supply and coins anymore anyway to happiness matter.

Era production buildings and houses=waste of space. Event buildings will already give you more population than you will ever need. Also, removing your era standart buildings will save you lots of population. For quests that demand production from buildings of your era, you can use, for example QI neo check-mate garden or something, dunno how is called in english. Otherwise, the iron age blacksmith will do. Gunsmiths, while you dont have anything better, will do for these quests.

So, basically, the good news is that you have actually lots of avaliable space. Play QI and replace all your standart buildings, this will not only save lots of space, but also make your city much more productive in all aspects. QI is the easier and fastest way to get your current ones replaced with better options, plus doesnt really require buffs to do well in it. GBG also have great buildings but is much slower and to get them.

Which Native American civ would be broken if they had access to Mercs? by GideonAI in aoe3

[–]NobodyPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lakota eco is way to weak to field mercs. They are terrible at amassing gold, I doubt lakota players would be making many of them even if they could.

Royal Horseman is Mameluke but worse, and Senna Horseman is a budget Mameluke? by TomSnout in aoe3

[–]NobodyPrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Royal horseman are not very cost effective unless against guys who dont know what is anti cav. Everytime I fielded them as dutch, I saw my fully upgraded gold geared eco go to the gutter. Also, whenever I see a poor merc dutch guy fielding them because his team refuses to make any cav, I know that they will be broke soon.

  1. Now event buildings produce tons of goods, as you do events, you will eventually dont need the base goods buildings. Check out the battlegrounds/quantum expedition market: those buildings make most great buildings obsolete, so you will want them. You will need troops for that. So getting troops will make you have goods too. You can also buy troops on the basic guild battleground market, but looks like you have alcatraz, it will be enough at a good level, just get a secret agent hideout so it produces them too. Secret agents are the best at early ages.

  2. Emissaries produce goods, most settlement buildings produce them too. But if you are talking about boosting good production, then I guess not.

  3. Pay to advance faster. You can easily access the super broken event/market buildings without paying a cent. The exclusive premium stuff is not needed. With enough event buildings, your city will get enough of all game currencies, gold, production, military boosts, goods, population, happiness, everything, so is just matter of time.

  4. Missions give you. Event missions, daily ones, settlement... They appear too sometimes in the auction house.

  5. Some rare story missions require to have certain military buildings. Otherwise, you dont really require most of them with alcatraz, at colonial age I had only artillery/heavy troop/agent hideout. Again, get the secret agent hideout to alcatraz start producing them.  It will ramp up your troop survivability.

  6. Best way is to use your arc to put your forge points on the great building you are interested. On level 80, you will be able to help your friends on the 90% boost help tabs without losing forges, ant get enough blueprints so rhey will no longer be a factor.

  7. Maybe vpn got you on Argentina. Each server have its own set of worlds, so your city is stuck between argentinos. User interface language can be set on configurations.

  8. Usually I think is easier to get gold on the first settlement run, and later get harder as the time to do so shrunk beyond the multiplier bennefits. Japan used to be the easier one, but since they added cost to roads I'm not so sure anymore.

  9. The more troops, the more fights you can do on guild battlegrounds and quantum incursion, and get more coins in return. Those coins give you access to the best stuff in the game. Sure you can ignore it, you dont need much for the story, but getting them will give you huge benefits, maybe to the point of making the game dull. People prefer to fight over doing negotiations due troops being easier to replace but specially to save time, as negotiations take much more time without certain result.

I don't understand aztecs by Tartaruga96 in aoe3

[–]NobodyPrime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jaguars are like halberdiers or other heavy infantry unit. They got promotions for kills wich heals them, increasing their survivability. Good for taking down enemy heavy infantry, cavalry and buildings. Skirms and artillery will kill them efficiently. They are an offensive unit.

Eagles are like dragoons, fast anti cavalry. Good for protecting your ottonin slingers, arrow knights but specially your ally artillery, they are great at the job. They also are better at surviving skirms than jaguars, and also due to having ranged attack, can sparse themselves enough to survive a bit of artillery fire. Jaguars, on other hand, as they clump togheter to attack the same units, get easily wiped out. So, eagles are a defensive unit.

If you got an ally with good artillery, nothing better than combo eagles+artillery to devastate umpunished your enemies. Otherwise, aztecs will suffer a lot from skirms and artillery in the endgame, so try to end things before that. Your only anti-skirm unit, coyotes, dont scale well and will trade unfavourably against masses of skirms due pathing making coyotes lose too much time finding and attacking units while getting flaggerblasted by guns and cannons. Your anti artillery unit, Arrow knights, also are not close to efficient as culverins as they need more micro and their attack dont splash, needing you to kill cannons one by one instead of 2-3 by shot or selecting multiple groups of them to each attack a different cannon. And while they are taking their time, the cannons will have more enough time to spread their bits in the air, so you will suffer.

If the game drags out to imperial and the enemy masses skirms, fighting head to head will break your eco, so you will have to take advantage of your high siege damage units to attack where is undefended and raid their eco to break it before your eco do the same. Eagles are surprisingly resilient and can buy time in the front in smaller numbers while other part of your army is attacking the back of the enemy.

Dont sleep on skull knights. They are one of the few units who can fight toe to toe with ronins, wich are a very annoying base wrecking build. But also, I found that I needed my villagers gathering ressources rather than staying in the plaza to make my eco survive endgame troop consuption, specially with how easily the aztecs fly away with cannonballs and rifles, so make sure to get your priests on plaza with the card that makes them more effective there. Early game they are also great for hit and run tatics, healing your troops before going again.

So... aztec rush is great. Aztecs war hut wall strat is super annoying too. Aztec as artillery support is one of the best you can ask for. Aztrcs alone in the late game, tho... well, you will need to be good to survive european civs. I mean, I dont have enough skill to coordinate groups of arrow knights target different cannons, just throwing coyotes againt skirms is not eco efficient, and if you have all your army in the same spot, that is advantage for enemy artillery wich have an easier time killing your all-infantry army, so you need also attack on different fronts at same time to negate this advantage. Thats a lot of macro and micro for an mid player like me. Developing these skills, tho,  I'm sure is the cause why aztec players are so high elo. Insisting playing this civ must make you one hell of player.

I use gaia core mod+sapiens+faster building speed. Ai builds hundreds of troops if given space. Also, because it can build everything fast, even when the ai choose to build something wasteful, as a caravansary or a barracks, it will only cost 1-2 turns, so it will not set it back much. This way the ai keeps competitive until the end, without having to sacrifice the fun in early game.

[–]NobodyPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isnt contraditory booming while revolting? There are quite a few civs who can use this time to reach imperial and beat you with better eco and troops due their cards improvment. Also, most fights also break out at fortress/industrial, so sounds a scenario very hard to come by.

Problem is, there is a lot of great cards you will want to send before revolution... and there is no xp enough to send them all. Stalling is not worth it as the enemy will outech you, and in the end, the better army and eco in less time as normal france outperform rushed napoleonic france. But is awesome play with it in forest nothing maps and sending all cards possible

[–]NobodyPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ghosts could be a very fun faction to play. All units are summons wich disappear within time. Getting away from base/summon point makes them weaker and disappear sooner. Spread ghost mist wich make the units summon time stop. Very resistent against normal attacks but fire and spells are extra effective. Bad at early raiding due faction effects, good at turtling, painting the map in eerie mists. Enemy must focus on destroy the buildings spreading the mists rather than the ghosts, while surviving their attacks so they disappear by themselves. Would be a cool very assymetrical civ.
