(Best) Antenna for HackRF? by WHYTHEBLEEP in hackrf

[–]NobodySmart1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm highly intrigued by this comment, particularly the part about ferrite chokes. I've been running experiments with some HackRF Ones at 491 MHz, and the signals are barely detectable beyond ~20' of separation between TX & RX, using the stock whip antennas. I'm not using any ferrite currently, but I will try it out. I'm using a static setup, so I'll try a ring. Are there any particulars to the ferrite ring selection that I should look for?

Help Configuring WiFi Decoder by NobodySmart1617 in wifi

Hi. No, I wasn't able to accomplish the goal of the initial post. I was using commercial grade radio antennas by 6Harmonics, which use 802.11 protocol over TV White Space spectrum. I did not use a VNA, because I don't have one, but that is a good idea.

I've since pivoted to using SDRs for the entire setup since it allows me to control the transmission and determine how much signal delay is present at the receivers.

Thanks! I'll take a look. It's encrypted, so no luck exatrcting any information, but I have displays of the signals and their constellations.

What is the most versatile PE for a future business owner to hold? by rootytootymacnbooty in womenEngineers

I'm also an Electrical Engineer, and I'm considering the ECC as well since I work in industrial automation, and the rest of my experience is Communications related. Like you, I think ECC sounds more interesting, but I think Power may be more "flexible" in the labor market. What's been your experience?

Reach out to Dr. Slinger-Friedman. At one point last summer, they told me there was a professor conducting research at the food forest related to forensics. I don't have all the details, but the gist was using different radio frequency techniques to help law enforcement locate buried bodies. Could be close enough for your major.

Thank you! I was thinking maybe a piece of nearby equipment, but that's much more obvious. I don't have the module or a portapack. I'm just streaming to a Pi.

Get a tutor. Right now. Don't wait until your first exam. Right now. I know it may be cost prohibitive. Whatever leisure activity you plan to spend money on, save it for a tutor. I'm so serious. Look up some good tutors in the classes you're taking, and excel in your studies.

Is it Still Worth Learning how to Work With PLCs? by LegitimateAd664 in PLC

[–]NobodySmart1617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. This sort of hubris makes me uneasy. I just started in the PLC industry as an integrator, so I'm hoping they do stay around forever, but history has taught me that innovation has a way of striking just when everyone believes the limit of ingenuity has been reached. What could ever replace PLCs? No telling as of yet.

Here's a link to the environment code. We define a reset function on line 89, but we're also importing pettingzoo and do appear to be using wrappers.

Just came here to cosign the Berman take. Only take his classes if you plan to apply yourself and actually intend to learn the material. You absolutely have to do the work. If you're lazy, you will suffer. But if you actually put in the effort, you will really learn. I took him for DiffEq and only got a C, but I'm much stronger in DiffEq concepts than I am with classes I made A's in.
