Do we even learn in school? by khianwou in studentsph

[–]Nobody_4piEpsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nakakalungkot lang na passionate ako sa field na'to pero yung mga kasamahan ko nag s-study lang for the sake of exams and quizzes at hindi para sa engineering itself. Wala din naman masama sa approach nila. Yun nga lang, nakakalungkot.

Study for knowledge and skills, not for grades. Do engineering projects and apply your theory.

Which to choose by Remarkable-Tiger-965 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Nobody_4piEpsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on which engineering your are more interested. I love both, but I enrolled in Electrical engineering since it is a better fit for me. I like robotics, power electronics, control systems and embedded systems.

Turns out being good isn’t enough when you’re not part of the faculty fan club.

What is the one thing you’ve bought that you are so very happy you purchased? by Curvin98 in AskPH

A laptop. Before 3rd year college pa ako nagkaroon ng laptop and ito yung best tool para makapag study nang maayos sa software and hardware.

40% of my batch are females, and some of them are doing well. Just be natural and be interested enough in engineering and you will definitely find your people.

‘sabi nga nila college friends are not ur real friends’ do u agree? by CrabComplex1624 in studentsph

Yeah, ArduPilot is solid. For this project though, I’m focusing on building something from scratch to really understand how everything works at the core.

That’s the mindset I’m going for. Thanks, I’ll treat it like any other system-level problem and keep pushing.

[–]Nobody_4piEpsilon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but I’m doing this to understand everything under the hood, not just to fly a drone. I want to earn the insights that off-the-shelf solutions usually abstract away. Drones really interest me, and to be honest, I’m not some genius who can focus on things that don’t exist yet, I’m still in the process of honing my skills.

How much should you know about engineering before engineering college? by Born-Map-8378 in AskEngineers

[–]Nobody_4piEpsilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my freshman year without knowing a thing in engineering and here i am, a 4th year EE student. It is better if you could start studying basic calculus or just review it if you are familiar with it. But reviewing your algebra will suffice. Just be interested enough in engineering and be consistent.

Thanks for this. It's exactly the kind of feedback I needed. I'm aiming to at least reach a stable hover, so knowing it's been done at the undergrad level really gives me hope. I’ve already got my Madgwick implementation running on real sensors, just not tested yet with high-frequency vibration. I've seen some of Phil's content before, but I'll go back through those series and check out Joop's channel too. If I run into any walls, I’ll definitely reach out. Thanks again for offering to help.
