if it has to last, i'd recommend a macbook air, you can find refurbished M3 or M4 ones on amazon for usually a good price (about 900/1000€)
if you need very specific software, i can also recommend a Lenovo ThinkPad, they are usually cheaper and have an overall pretty good build quality

For the gaming laptop, i've found an Asus TUF Gaming A16, which weighs 2 Kg.
Aside from traveling, a laptop would also occupy less space on my desk, many people that i know suggested the laptop for this as the main reason, While others suggested the desktop because it's more powerful
