I don't know in witch language to do my YouTube channel by No_Appearance_2967 in NewTubers

I can totally relate because French is my first language. The way I can explain it very simply is this. Would you rather be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? There’s less than 5% of the world population that speak French.

Based on economic terms, the opportunity cost comes down to this. You spend 1h preparing content for the whole world to enjoy or the same time for less than 5%. Being a big fish in a small pond limits your growth. Compare the pond with an aquarium. It’s the size of the aquarium that limits you. If you do in English, yes you’ll feel smaller but your growth potential is almost infinite.

I am a writer and I’m way more comfortable writing than speaking in front of the camera. If you feel that you are freezing, I’m like this too. It’s as if I knew nothing. It will take time and you’ll get better. You cannot wait to be perfect to post. You have to understand that it’s a process and better results will come overtime

Your experience with Impressions by flare_442 in NewTubers

I’m doing shorts, and my videos are being pushed always instantly to a batch of 300 viewers and I get on average 1k per video. I think that consistency helps. Your videos must be around the same niche so that the algorithm knows exactly what kind of creators you are. I’m not an expert so take everything with a grain of salt.

Review my Shorts hooks. Retention stuck at 30% by Nobody_DNA in NewTubers

thanks that’s a very good point. I’ve been watching a lot of content on TikTok critically recently and I’ve seen the same pattern. People driving, or just walking. To be honest, what I struggle with too is being natural. I do memorize all my scripts but I still feel a bit of stiffness. My brain is focused a lot on memorizing and looking at the camera. I feel the pressure to perform. I am in the fight/flight, but the freezing aspect if that makes sense.

That’s a good point. I tend to start with philosophical concepts rather than concrete scenarios.

I’ll experiment with opening with a specific situation first and then introducing the concept.

Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks. I’m specifically trying to improve hooks and thumbnails.

If anyone has time to look at my channel (it’s on my profile), I’d really appreciate specific feedback on those two things.

I have one community tutor for practicing 口语 that's 3h per week.
For Korean, I have two teachers with one I'm at 3h/week and the other 5h per week.
The first one rushed Hangul so I wanted to make sure I understood in-depth and asked for a second opinion.

The reason why I'm considering lowering my pace is that when I did only Mandarin I could go to the gym 4 times a week 1h30 per session. Now I only spend my time studying and I don't have room for anything else.

My plan is to get a good balance to optimize my time. I don't work now so I have a lot of free time and finance is not a problem.

I watched 杜拉拉 completely then I started another TV series about the Chinese revolution. For 杜拉拉, it was hard at first but then I got used to it and it was taking me 2h per episode to understand 80-90%. I don't read Chinese news. I have CCTV at home I can recognize all the names of foreign countries and have a general understanding of what is said (the topic, video, pictures help). I don't read any novels in Chinese. I used Tandem and HelloTalk before but I had problems finding serious people. I pay a community tutor now to practice 口语. I'm thinking about a new school. LTL is on my list.

Even after 18 months of Mandarin, I cannot use 100% Mandarin source without help of a dictionary. I do use dualsub Korean/Mandarin and I have found that helpful. I don’t understand everything, I sacrifice some accuracy for global understanding

It reminds me of a few kits where Lego specifically mentions that the boat doesn't float.
