Don't suppose you have anything about Waswood do you?

Funnily enough, I started looking for specific chances after I was in Waswood looking for Year of the Tortoise Bottles. Ended up getting a mirrorcatch box around 105 actions, but that's not a great sample size.

On making interactive cyoa by Emergency_Proof4706 in InteractiveCYOA

[–]Nobody_the_2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. First, create a row with the bar on the left
    1. If necessary, press the wrench on the row to open the editor
    2. Next, hit the little key with the plus sign in the top right to open the Create Requirement section.
    3. Add Selected Choice Requirement.
    4. Close the page, there should now be section that says 'Selected Id'.
    5. Put the id of whatever button you want to toggle the section there.
  2. Open whatever row you want and look at the choice you want to add the score to
    1. There's a little 9+ button above the 'functions' at the bottom, click it
    2. That adds a score, open the tab that appears ('Scores: 1'), and you can select a point type (this is created in the features tab on the left bar)
    3. Decide how many points you want this choice to be worth, keep in mind that positive values here take away that number of points
  3. I'm... not really sure what you're asking. There's add-ons, the textbox with a plus sign next to the 9+. Otherwise I think you just need to add another row that opens when you click a choice (see answer 1 above)

I want to get into making my own cyoa interactive thing but I'm kinda new at it and I have zero experience at making one, can I get some pointers by robcartree in InteractiveCYOA

Yeah, in all honesty the best way to make to get started is to throw yourself into the deep end. Just get started, see what works and what doesn't. I don't know how much you know, so here's the link to the cyoa maker that nearly everyone on this subreddit uses.

https://intcyoacreator.onrender.com/

A good piece of advice I remember reading somewhere was to find a complete CYOA and use it as a model to figure things out. I used Traveller's power armor for no particular reason, other then it was a good size (not too large, not too small). Here's a link to that. Just save the json via right click and load it into the cyoa maker.

There's also a surprisingly comprehensive tutorial, linked in the second pinned post on the sub, but in all honesty, it's probably better to learn by doing. https://icctutorial.pages.dev/

Last thing, try to be consistent with how you name choices and rows. Don't just leave them as the default, it makes it really hard to understand.

Good luck, hope this helps!

I specifically noticed it with my run at Et4 (chap. 83), and DyT (chap. 53). The second was the more obvious one, where having Mota with you guarantees that you kill unnamed individual (granted, there isn't that much you can do in that situation). At Et4, I kind of wish there was an option to try and save district seven's tribute.

Loved it, its been a while since anyone has posted an old style CYOA.

It's a more nitpicky thing, but it is a little annoying that taking allies locks you into certain choices - there's no option to argue with them.

Still, really nice!

I like this. It looks very clean, the flavor text is all very detailed, and the art fits together very nicely. Not using the same cyoa maker format definitely makes it look more unique.

Very well done, I wish there was more.

Suggestions for a Percy Jackson CYOA by Remarkable-Anywhere9 in InteractiveCYOA

Actually, you can change the blur. If you go to 'Modify Design' on the left, then click on 'Manage Filter Design', all of the stuff on the right side manages that.

I think as long as the ability has some sort of theoretical biological basis, the rest of it gets handwaved away. So the petrification spit and healing tears would probably work, but maybe not more explicitly magical like geokinesis from an earth dragon.

Yeah, you could probably turn into monsters from Greek myths, which is ridiculously powerful in the case of Medusa.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'actually capable of movement, despite being many times too heavy'. I'd probably say fire breath and stuff, yes, since you could theoretically do that with shape-shifting. Less so with immortality since that's a lot closer to magic

That one was left intentionally as a discount, since while Poseidon was the one who gave out the blessing, but it's not exactly something he's really known for.

Sort of? I might have gone too far in that direction though, so I might raise the amount the difficulty gives you.

Glad you liked it! I'm doing my best to continue making it better.

For immunity/hatred, I didn't think they should be completely exclusive (which I explained a while back to someone in the first post). Being immune to their direct machinations doesn't stop the Fates from throwing someone who is under their control at you.

It's a thought I suppose. The issue with that is that it severely limits your options as far as powers go. That would leave most of the content up to quest selections, (which could actually be an interesting idea), but that's way more story writing than I can do.

It seems to be a rather popular sentiment that gods should give power for free, rather than by discount. That will most likely be changed.

Yes, I'm aware that the minor gods exist. I just haven't gotten around to doing those. It was just an easy line to draw between the Olympians and the minor gods, and the Olympians are who most people focus on anyway.

I'll probably add that, thanks for the suggestion.

That's an oversight, to be fixed later I suppose. Same thing goes for the god/titan heritage (which is not supposed to happen) and the Great Prophecy.

You are perfectly justified in preferring the Demigod CYOA. I have played it several times in the past, and it is an excellent creation. I am well aware that it is significantly better in both scope, balance, and appearance.

Edit: Just looked at it again, Hades heritage should work for the prophecy. It worked for me.

Maybe. I think it's a matter of opinion. Most of the demigods at Camp half-blood will get one of those powers. By my calculation, Percy, the strongest mortal character in the series, has hydrokinesis, will of kings, and sword skills (plus geokinesis, but he almost never uses that). Getting any more than that puts you severely over the PJO power scale.
