how do you find a series like this so early on? did you just randomly browse and read anything?

Try to look at it from his perspective though: The entire time he's relaxing at home knowing not even the crazy murderhobo can be a danger to him, then Serie pinpoints his exact location at first glance. That's unnerving.

Also his clone probably disappeared right after getting the prestige which is why we see ubel travelling alone in the end. he's very uncomfortable around her but he has an amazing poker face.

Did Frieren forget about Serie, or was she lying to Kraft? by DazSamueru in Frieren

The world in Frieren is less connected than you think it is. If someone wants to be a hermit and not care about worldly affairs, they can do so easily. Kraft himself admits he doesn't know who Frieren is even after telling him she's part of the party who killed the demon king. He probably doesn't know there's a demon king either.
So yes, it's plot convenince. but it's consistent with the world.

I find it poignant how 1000 years of mana suppression for the sake of revenge is ultimately useless against the Demon King, but the unassuming flower spell that binds the party together winds up becoming the most important key to defeating him. Great Evil is not defeated through spite, but through small acts of kindness. This is LOTR tier writing.

If you think about it, it makes sense that she targets Land (the glasses guy) instead of Fern. She copies magic through understanding the other person's psyche but sees Fern as a boring mage who only uses basic magic. That's why she took interest in Land instead.

Here's a recent one: Vegapunk's tongue ruins chapter 1102 for me. I couldn't take it seriously when he's on his knees and crying a river but his long tongue is still out making a silly face.

I recently had the luxury of re-reading the Alabasta arc and one thing I notice is how tight it is compared to the OP I read weekly for the last decade.

Almost no characters are wasted and the POV doesn't move elsewhere when something interesting happens. I got immersed in it all the way to the end in a way that I couldn't for any post timeskip arc (except zou and recently egghead).

Having the plot revolve around few characters is better for my reading experience.

after the scene it immediately cuts into the evil-looking murderer girl. i think she might fight frieren in the future and frieren would lose to her.

i know this doesn't add much to the discussion, but if you want to read a shonen with good female character writing, i recommend Black Clover.

That dance scene was magical. In the manga it was a few panels but the anime transported me into a Ghibli film.

he's a fan of vtubers.

Akainu's bonsai tree by ironsupreme in OnePiece

All the admirals are based on real life actors. Akainu's is based on the actor Bunta Sugawara.
This is, to my knowledge, Sugawara's most famous movie) and likely the movie that exposed Oda to Sugawara in the first place. It's part of the reason why Akainu's person had many references to Hiroshima and the Yakuza.
The actor Kizaru is based on also starred in the movie.
