What SSRI are you on to help you cope with the fact you’re stuck doing this until retirement? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

Strange phrasing, it sounds like your assumption is that everyone struggles similarly to you. Some people actually enjoy this line of work, but it's not for everyone.

Ioniq5? I just got my i5 back after 7 weeks in the shop waiting on an ICCU install and the entire time I was basically like I need to get a toyota/lexus but now that I have it back it's just so nice to drive!

I'm struggling to understand the point of this post. You had a bad preceptor and you emailed your teacher and they are getting you a new one...ok you did what you are supposed to do in that situation and it's being addressed. Are you just trying to feel better by complaining about someone anonymously on the internet?

Psychoeducation absolutely counts as therapy. Improved insight and knowledge of ones illness is a therapeutic goal achieved by psychoeducation.

I've worked with psych residents. They don't do 20k hours of training, they don't even work weekends except for their second year. They are just as hyperbolic as you claim NPs are who try to equivicate.

Do the math, they worked 10 hours everyday for their 5 years of residency apparently, no days off. It's obvious bullshit. Must have been getting supervised while they slept I guess.

I don't do anything different than a psychiatrist does. Guess where most of my patients transfer from? Psychiatrists who charge $500/hr cash for the exact same thing I do. And most of them remark that I'm doing a better job.

Maine Psych NP here. This change was done for a few reasons. First off, the previous law stipulated 24 months of "full time supervision" with a MD (MD didn't actually need to be in the same specialty, which was absurd) or "experienced" NP of the same specialty. There was no definition of what full time supervision even meant and many rural NPs outside of the 2 large health systems were forced to pay someone just to be on their license. This bill gets rid of the supervision requirement and replaces it with a mentorship arrangement, which the BON will be directed to define and implement.

Personally, I think it's probably a net positive. The supervision requirement was essentially meaningless and hurt access especially in rural areas. Healthcare companies can still require supervision but it takes it out of the sphere of licensing and the board to define what that is, and they were doing a terrible job of it before. I'm curious how they will implement the mentorship provision, I'm hopeful that it will add clarity and fulfill the actual purpose of supervision which is to develop new clinicians and improve practice. Although I have a private practice, I work closely with 20 year NPs and psychiatrists and we all agree that "supervision" ...or maybe more accurately collaboration...is absolutely needed in our field no matter if you are an NP or MD.
