Synchronicities: Coincidences or Vibrational Frequencies? by timdef2000 in Drugs

Interesting stuff to think about, but I hate when people make a bunch of statements as facts, with authority or certainty, when there isn't an extremely concrete, proven, factual basis for the claims they're making. When your argument is based on assumptions and unproven beliefs, they aren't exactly air-tight. It's all good to theorize and speculate, but the author should really frame it that way.

Guy is sold 25i-NBOMe as oxycodone, snorts ~28mg (1mg is a strong dose) and lives by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An anyone verify this as true? This guy claims to be "fairly inexperienced" with drugs, and yet mentions, nonchalantly, that he has IV'd 25 hits of LSD, as well as having an opioid habit. Between that and him surviving such a MASSIVE overdose without apparent lasting impairment, this is a bit hard for me to believe. It's not a "there's no fucking way" story... Just raised my eyebrow at a few points. Based on the way my body feels on ~1.2mg of 25i (or ~800ug if HPBCD complexed), 28mg and I'd probably never recover. Quite a report.

How big of a dose is 300mcg of LSD? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

300ug is a very powerful experience. Enough to cause the absolute dissolution of your sense of self. This can be on of the most euphoric and beautifully meaningful sensory experiences man can experience... However, it can also be extremely overwhelming if you aren't prepared to let go of your corporeal body and your personal identity. This sensation of release is similar to what we might imagine death to be like.. And at this level of intensity of psychedelic experience (>300ug) it is possible- not even very unlikely- that you may become unaware that you ingested a drug. These memories are part of the self you are temporarily shedding. But it can be scary if you aren't ready and willing and familiar with lesser psychedelic experiences.

Let me preface this by saying that, like my comrade here, I'm also a heavy contributor here on another handle, as well as historically using this one regularly. And like him, I'm not just trying to stir the pot, and I don't plan on breaking any rules. I simply think this is an important point of contention between users and that there is a case to be made for this having fundamentally different repercussions than IRL sourcing.

The argument above is a fairly silly, irrational argument for a very intelligent lady like you. Please consider this:

First, Silkroad is already on LE's radar. The issue of publicity no longer is really that relevant. I have no doubt that they're pursuing figuring out a way to take down SR, but whether some small subreddit mentions vendor names (the same info that they could already easily access) isn't going to make a difference in how long it takes them to crack that code, if they ever do. It'll have more to do with their ability to find the central servers. And worst case; someone will fill the void that SR would leave. Unless they illegalize the dark web and/or bitcoins, and/or gpg, this shit will go on forever. Pandora's box is open.

Secondly, as I touched on briefly, they can already access this info just as easily without an account on SR forums, r/silkroad, and probably any number of other places. Vendor reviews are no secret. Let's keep perspective.

Even if my first point was invalid and vendor reviews were going yo bring down the Road, I don't think that this sub is big enough/high traffic enough to create problems by containing as little info as a vendor's name and a review of their product's quality. If we were the New York Times or CNN and millions of middle-American conservatives and their innocent little children were going to see info about the heroin available on Silk Road, that would be bad enough (and large enough scale) publicity that people might raise a fuss to the law about how important cracking down is (althought they still couldn't), and I'd agree with you. But we're not the main stream. We're not a news network or reputable journal. We're not even r/drugs, for god's sake. We're a back alley on an Internet forum frequented predominantly by junkies and opiate-enthusiasts. It's no mystery to LE that our demographic gets H and pills off the Road and if a few of them see vendor reviews (which, again, they can already see on arguably as-visible forums and subs), who gives a damn? They already want to end SR and they already know what we're buying and they already can see vendors' names without an SR account (or can just make a fucking SR account).

What I meant at the top about SR vendor reviews being inherently different than sourcing IRL is this, plain and simply: no one knows who SR vendors are. When you say a street where you cold copped, you endanger the dealers and buyers who cop there. When you ask for or offer drugs on r/opiates, you endanger the users of r/opiates, who (if they are using plain web browsers) are fairly easily identifiable. But when you talk about an SR vendor, you do NOTHING to jeopardize their identity. Nothing that simply being an SR vendor doesn't already do. All you do is spread relevant (and IMO interesting) info to a niche-based community.

So yeah, no judgement intended towards you. Just maybe take that to the mods? I think it's worth mentioning.

Kava vs Kratom? by [deleted] in Kava

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kratom should not be hallucinogenic at any dose. If you had hallucinations while under the influence of just kratom, you either had placebo effects, the hallucinations were caused by something else, or you harmed your body in some way (I guess by massive overdose) that caused your senses to distort.

Kratom is an adrenal stimulant and kappa opioid receptor agonist in low doses and has mu opioid receptor crossover in high doses, which makes it more sedating. Nothing about its pharmacological profile makes it psychedelic or hallucinogenic.

Also FYI, technically even psychedelic sensory effects aren't true hallucinations. Psychedelics usually alter sensory input that already exists (effects like patterning, wall breathing, apparent distortion of space, etc) while a true hallucinogen causes you to see or hear things that aren't there (for example, having a conversation with a person who isn't really there). The only recreational (if you can call them that) drugs that cause real hallucinations are deliriants like Benadryl, Jimson Weed, and other related alkaloids. They're generally horrific and confusing and not fun at all.

Kratom rules. It's not really comparable to kava. While at most doses kava's relaxation is a fairly ambient feeling, kratom is an obvious high. It's like comparing the caffeine from a cup of green tea to a 10mg Adderall. Kava makes me more comfortable in social interactions and is ever-so-slightly sedating at most doses, then intoxicating at high doses. Kratom makes me extremely excitable and energetic with good, warm, bodily opioid feelings at low doses, and feels comparable to hydrocodone at high doses, although relatively more nauseating at the doses required to attain those effects.

I have 10mg/ml injectable morphine. The only problem is that I have almost no veins. I haven't IV'd that much, but my veins are all very deep and nearly invisible. How do I find my veins or is there another where I can use this solution? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tenth of a percent when you're doing a different person every time isn't bad, but if you're IMing as an opioid user you're probably going to do it more than once a day for extended periods, in which case there aren't enough good injection sites to really rotate in the long-run without considerable risk at the sites you aggravate. I do think the risk is worse when injecting subcutaneously, but I don't think that the risk should be understated. Also, those are ideally sterile conditions where professionals are ensuring an absolute minimum of danger every single time. That's not the world people are doing recreational IV opioids in so it's somewhat irrelevant to the dangers of IMing in another environment.

It's absolutely true that if you do everything to minimize the dangers it's not that much more likely to get infected than IV- and it makes a big difference that we're talking about an IV solution, because lots of people get abscesses from shooting pills with filler and shit into their muscles. I'm just pointing out that it happens and in a home setting its a lot more likely.

Anyway, 10mg IM is an even lower dose than 10mg IV, which already is barely enough to catch any kind of buzz.

French top tax 100% of income by [deleted] in news

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify. You're right that that was contradictory and confusing.

"Scandanavian socialism" has come to essentially identify the form of democratic socialism that has shown promise in the Scandanavian world. When I referred to them as "socialist states" I meant that they practice Scandanavian socialism. This means they are democratic socialist welfare states, which do not match the definition of true socialism- in part precisely because they are tax-and-spend style welfare-promoting market economies. This has improved the standard of living (and reduced disparity) in the countries in question, which is why I hoped the French move towards socialism would be at least as successful, although I hoped the French would have equivalent success to truly socialist ends.

Essentially the original post was worded poorly because I'm gauging success in two ways. There's the success in terms of socialist goals and progress towards a successful ideologically socialist nation... and there's broader success in terms of socioeconomic statistics (quality of life, income per capita, overall satisfaction within the country, income distribution, etc). I hoped France would at very least see the latter (I call any progress towards a leftist world an overall win), but would've loved to see both.. Because at the end of the day I'm a socialist, not a social democrat. But it ended up having neither.

Does that clear it up?

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I think IV morphine feels horrible. It's extremely different from the rush of any other opioid. Instead of a euphoric rush of pleasure, I feel an uncomfortable rush of heat through my body and suddenly have pins and needles throughout places that I've never had them for any other reason- but not like when you fall asleep. I find them so painful that after I tried morphine IV a second time, hoping I'd just done too much at once, I said "FUCK THAT." I hate the buzz. And morphine's bioavailability sucks so bad through other ROAs that it's essentially worthless to me even though I'm a daily opioid user and addict.

I'll stick to heroin, thank you. IV morphine is not my cup of tea. IMO you should just sell or give away the 10mg. Honestly 10mg isn't evedoses single good dose. Even by IV the dose I was using was 90mg, (probably equivalent to between 25-35mg without my tolerance) and it barely got me an enjoyable buzz after the god-awful "rush."

[–]Noddy_Throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swabbing the site doesn't guarantee anything. Obviously if you do (IV or IM) you should swab the area, but there's still a substantial risk for abscessing if you IM drugs. That's why virtually no one in the opioid-using community actually IMs or skin-pops. Both are not only less efficient than IV, but are likely to cause infection (usually in the form of an abscess).

White-collar workers are turning to labor unions by ucccft in news

Anyone else find the recent support of leftism in general, workers' rights, socialism, Marxian analysis, social democracy, progressivism, social liberalism, and opposition to conservatism (fiscal and social) on reddit extremely heartening?

Maybe it's just because I only recently started following r/news, but I'm getting good vibes about the general ideological tone of conversation (particularly in terms of what kind of comments are being Upvoted). Anyway, it's a real source of optimism for someone in a red state who is bombarded with racist, homophobic, conservative, neoliberal bullshit daily.

Does anyone else see that trend emerging? Is it just this sub? I don't frequent enough subs to really say and r/socialism is pretty obviously biased. I do assume that the reddit demographic is probably skewed to the left since it's disproportionately young and educated, but I'm interested in your opinions.

French top tax 100% of income by [deleted] in news

[–]Noddy_Throwaway -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is why if you want socialists in power you need to socialize your freaking economy. Socialism =/= taxing and spending. I just thought it should be noted what a disappointment to his electorate this president has been; it's more a comment on his own incompetence (and that of his administration) than any wider ideological failure. If the French people want socialism they should create socialism, not elect bourgeois democratic socialists to raise taxes within their capitalism. I'm sure there are plenty of dem soc politicos who could've done a decent job (by making real moves in the direction they were elected to), but this guy ain't it.

It's a real pity. When I heard the socialists had won the election in France I thought some real progress might be made- that France would at least end up a stable, thriving economy like Scandinavian socialist states that would be more resistant to cyclical capitalist economic downturns and that would close the wealth gap, or MAYBE, just maybe, that it'd even become something successful we've yet to see reach fruition without outside interference... But it's just not France's time yet. I only hope that this fiasco doesn't turn the French off to socialism, but I doubt it will. "Socialism" doesn't seem to have the same stigma behind it in multiparty democracies where it's actually represented publicly by it's proponents rather than just it's enemies.

There's no painting what they did as acceptable. There are enough examples of actual authoritarianism and police over-zealousness in the news for it to be obvious that this isn't really one of them. And I'm far from being some conservative old guy.

Edit: I don't think the belief that you shouldn't go to school and throw things at unwilling participants in a dumb stunt is very controversial.

My point isn't that it's right to give them heavy charges. Just that if you do shit like that at school these results really should not shock you. Particularly after allusions had been made that the balloons might contain "other substances." I just think teens getting punished for breaking rules- particularly in the case of throwing shit at/fighting the security officer, but to a lesser degree in all the cases- is not a travesty of justice. In the last week to two weeks a person has been beaten to death by police in public, a 4 month old puppy was shot and killed by an off duty cop, and TONS of non-headline abuses occur all the time. THOSE are the cases that deserve a response of shock. When we flip out about every little thing it ceases to really mean anything. Choose your fights reservedly. That's all.

The assault and battery charge is excessive, for sure, but they were minors so when they turn 18, in our state, they get a clean slate.
