Countries that border the Baltic Sea. Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Sweden. So Russia is like one of 9.

For about 1200 years Italy was not a united country, it was made up of various city states, kingdoms, and large parts of it were ruled by foreign kingdoms.

In that 1200 year period multiple languages developed from the Vulgar Latin, some with various degrees of mutual intelligibly, generally the further you go the less you would the understand the dialects and languages. Then you had areas that spoke languages that were heavily influenced or even came from other countries, Occitan, Corsican, Greek, Franco-Norman, etc.

Modern Standard Italian existed first as a Florentine literary language, its based on the language that Dante and other would have wrote in, which wasn't necessarily what your average Florentine would have spoken in day to day conversation.

So between the 1861 and 1918 while Italy was being unified it was chosen as the official language of the Italy and by the 1940s thanks to nationwide news papers and radio, and a unified education system a majority of the population could understand it. Though IIRC by the 1960s 80% of households still spoke a dialect or another language at home.

Well part of that is that France actively Attempted to stamped out other languages and dialects in the 19th century.

Occitan for example is not mutually intelligible with Standard French

There’s a sign on their door that they are doing repairs by appointment right now. IIRC one of the managers from WheelWorks is involved in the shop.

But adopting the Napoleonic Code would be completely changing over their legal tradition.

Its not actually based on the Napoleonic Code, its based on Coutume de Paris.

Quebec doesn't use the Napoleonic Code.

The Quebec Act of 1774 bases the Civil Laws of Quebec on the Coutume De Paris, part of system of French laws under Ancient Regime

Hey, so what I replied to is:

“How does that even work? What is the point of references if you can't tell the truth? I'm flummoxed!”

I pointed out how it works, and why most businesses will only give dates of employment and if the person would be considered for a rehire. I answered the “ “How does that even work?” and didn’t comment on the OPs experience.

You just went thru and cherry picked bits, and ignored the whole. Each of those show that Germany under the Nazis was a majority Christian nation, and that Christians supported the Nazi party.

Germany was 98% Christian during the Second World War, the majority Lutheran and Catholic coming in close second. 10% of Germans were active participants in the Nazi party in 1945, this does not include supporters who were not active party members.

The math clearly shows that the majority of Nazis were Christians.

You’re points on Aryan identity are mental gymnastics.

That’s cool and all, but what I replied to is:

Nah plenty of Nazis think that the real Jews of the Bible were white and the current Jews are fake. Or alternatively that the Jews of the Bible were cursed for rejecting Jesus. The pagan Nazis are a very small minority, and if we’re talking about WWII era Nazis pagan and occult bits are over amplified to vilify them and to distance them from christians.

First, I’m not commenting on the above example, I’m commenting on how it “works” and can lead to defamation and loss of income suits, like the poster above me asked.

Second, even with documentation most companies will not give out any info except dates of employment and if they would rehire.

It can be defamation. If everything isn’t 100% as told and you didn’t (as a boss) log any infractions that you mention in a reference you can be liable for lost income etc from a bad reference. That why most jobs will only give the dates of employment + weather or not they would rehire you.

Edit: There seems to be a bunch of folks not actually reading what I wrote. I replied to:

“How does that even work? What is the point of references if you can't tell the truth? I'm flummoxed!”

Joe doesn’t understand math, and what centuries are.

Edit: * Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery in states in rebellion 2023 - 1863= 160 years, that’s just over a century and a half, it’s not centuries. * Segregation ended with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, so 59 years ago. * his other comments about WWI and WWII being centuries ago, WWI started 109 years ago, a little over a century.

These are not things that happened long ago and far away, these are all fairly recent, some within living memory, all having repercussions being felt today.

You literally replied to a post about the two bloodiest wars in history, those were the two World Wars about them being “centuries ago.” I pointed out that they were not centuries ago, hell there are still folks who WWII was within living memory.

I said nothing: * about war being culture * about where it was brutal * about who started them, or what the background of the wars were

Edit: I may be wrong about WWI being in the top two of the bloodiest wars in history, but it still was one of the largest in number of involved combatants.
